What expectations do you has as a player, of a tournament venue

I'm sorta in this boat, as well. I don't expect new cloth nor do I expect the tournament to start on time. I HOPE the balls are clean and I hope those running the tournament have high standards for conduct.

When I show up to a room and I see new cloth, a full room of tables devoted to the tournament and a director who is turning away stragglers and enforcing a dress code, I'm surprised and pleased but if it isn't like this, I don't get upset.

It's so tough doing business now that I can't fault these guys anymore. Tournaments are so expensive, I'm just glad they're even taking place.

I do not think the following is too much to ask for.

Clean Rest Rooms

Pool Ball that are clean

Tables Cloth clean.

Rails clean not full of chalk dust, finger prints, etc.
 
I want........

-correct handicaps if any
-food available, not bags of chips or chocolate bars
-lights!
-not to sit for three hours and wait

I personally am getting very tired of driving to a room, or Bar for a tournament and finding dirty Pool Balls, Tables that have not been sweeped, or vacuumed in god know when, cloth that should have been replace 6 months ago, no Chalk, and a JUKE box blasting out Heavy Metal that makes my filling rattle in my mount.

Is my wish list below unreasonable ?



I personally would expect at the very least:

Clean Tables.

Clean Cloth.

Cloth in good condition.

Clean Balls.

Adequate supply of Chalk that does not look like a Molar with a Big Cavity in it.

No BLASTING Music.

Clean restrooms.

Tournaments that start on time, and do not allow later comers in.:)

most of the time, the rooms don't make a dime for having a tournament - they provide a place for you and me to play in a competitive arena and they take a hit (after adding money, etc.) - if you want the "perfect" environment, you may want to take the time to create a room in your home because it rarely exists. if you run into any rooms out there that are exactly what you listed above, please share with us because if you attend a lot of events, you will see just how rare it is. what I enjoy (not expect) from the rooms are room owners that are happy to see others in their place enjoying the sport - a great example was a Jacoby event I attended last year at Shooters in Greensboro - the owners were GREAT! wonderful personalities and enjoyed having the event at their place.

i do agree with the clean restrooms though - when you have to sit on a seat, these kinds of things make a world of difference.

Well if it is run on Bar Boxes, and the Field is Large I will differ with that comment.

We had on in the Valley recently, 50 + players, Ract to full Handicap, $500.00 Added by the Bar. Quarters added up to about $840.00, plus all the profit from sale of Food, and Booze/Beer. (Their BB's are $.75/Game.)

Think the Bar went in the Black. Yes they are entitled to go into the Black, as they have bills to pay. :)
