What game are Shane and Bautista playing here?

I found this expecting it to be traditional bar table 8 ball and although it looks like that at times its not.

for one the rack is set up differently and especially in game 3 what are they shooting? svb plays a kick shot when had plenty other balls open. Does anyone know?

Its a hybrid game of 8/9 ball. The 7&15 are taken out of the rack and it is played in rotation (like in 9) based on which option you choose(solid/stripe,ofcourse) with the 8 being the money ball still.

It's like playing 8-ball, but removing the 7 & 15, so each suit has 6 balls. Then when a suit is established, the player must shoot their balls in rotation.

Yeap that's called Saratoga... Pretty fun and thought provoking- got to miss correctly when its 'necessary'.

The original Saratoga game is played with a Saratoga 'ball set' where the balls have different number on them for a added layer of complexity. ie Like the yellow solid ball is the 3 ball and the blue solid ball is the 5 ball etc... but you still shoot your suit of balls in numerical order before making the eight. yes call everything.. yes BIH game... Yes open on the break if a ball is made and Yes you can win/lose (make 8 and scratch) on the break... yes good action game especially with Saratoga balls- they do make a difference to rotation players.... not 'so much fun' on a crappy bar box though. but then again what pool game is??
