What happened to the Gold Crowns at Kolby's

all I hear about up here in Las Vegas is Kolby's and everyone I talk to about Skip&Jans says "kolbys" , "kolbys" so I wanted to go check it out to see what the draw was.

They do have a Diamond pro am as the best table in the house, "Scott's table" I was told, and also a nice older GC 1 or 2 that I assume was the best table in the house before the Diamond showed up. Then there are about 8-10 other gold crown tables,I'm not sure how many

My question is: WHAT HAPPENED TO THOSE GOLD CROWN TABLES??. IT APPEARS AS THOUGH THE RAILS ARE ABOUT AN INCH SHORT ON EACH END OF EVERY END RAIL ON EVERY TABLE!!!!! THE MISSING LENGTH OF WOOD AND RAIL RUBBER IS MADE UP BY PUTTING 4, 5 , OR 6 POCKET FACINGS TOGETHER TO GET BACK TO WHERE THE END OF THE RAIL SHOULD HAVE BEEN!!!!!ON SEVERAL TABLES THE POCKET FACINGS ARE STACKED UP TO ALMOST AND INCH ON EACH END OF THE HEAD AND FOOT RAILS!!!!!

.

JUST WONDERING WHAT ALL THE HYPE WAS ABOUT???

Someone correct me if I am WRONG, but Kolby's has ONE DIAMOND 4.5 x 9.0, the Other are Gold Crowns,. Went I first went to Kolby's years ago they had most a mix of GC, and GANDYS. Room up in Prescott Closed, and JIMMY brought Gold Crowns to replace the GANDYS. IMHO the Gandy's were OK, but the GC's are better. LIKE I SAID Kobly's I believe has (1) Diamond.

What happened

The attraction to me was all the great people who go there and work there.
Some of the tables looked a bit strange but they played much better than most I have played on around the country.
They have a daytime special from 12 to 7 PM for 7 dollars.
There are a ton of great players who hang out there and I saw money games from 5 dollars to a thousand.
They have some great tournaments, I didn't win any but I had a lot of fun.
I don't gamble but I got to play 5 or 6 really good players who just love to play. {They like to gamble but were willing to play me just for the practice.}
I would guess there are other good rooms in the area but I enjoyed Kolby's so much both times I have been in Phoenix that I never wanted to go anywhere else.
It's hard to express how well I was treated by almost everyone, I felt like I belonged there.

Zach, I have passed your name and number on to a few rooms owners, and plan to do even more shortly.

I've listened to many on their gripes with the 'other guys' and I informed them that you need to be their new mechanic.

This is the best news I've heard since this thread was posted. Someone actually took the time to go look at Zach's work and play on it. The quality of work is far and above ANY table work that is being done in Arizona, and equal to any work done by RKC obviously, he trained Zach and me.

That Quote was from the Skip & Jans thread about Zach's work. I posted this Question there but then realized it might need its own thread.

I just got back from Austin, Texas with Zach and had a couple of extra hours to kill after we went and took the rails off of the last Diamond table at Skip & Jans.....

I THREW-UP IN MY MOUTH WHEN I SAW THE CONDITION OF THE TABLES.

Please clue me in, I'm a little slow!!!

Keep up the great work Zach, all of Arizona will be yours sooner or later!!

Gordon,

Good work speaks for itself! Bashing other's work only lessens the good will earned from good work IMNSHO. Then there is the other side of the coin where if someone chooses to constantly bash everyone else's work, then theirs had better be better than great, perfect, beyond reproach, and guaranteed to be quality.

Let's hear some positive. There's more than enough negative. Kolby's is a good room, holds good tourney's, allows for streams to be done, and has stood the test of time. Plenty of players like the place.

One pocket equiptment

I was only in Kolby's for five minutes, I DON'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THE PEOPLE WHO WORK THERE, PLAY THERE, OR HOW THEY OPERATE THEIR PLACE..

I WAS STRICTLY THERE TO SCOPE OUT THERE EQUIPTMENT AS MOST OF THE WORK I DO IS GOLD CROWN WORK FOR VERY PICKY ONE POCKET PLAYERS. THE PEOPLE I TALKED TO SAID THIS WAS THE PLACE FOR ONE POCKET. I WAS NOT PREPARED FOR WHAT I SAW, AND IT SHOCKED ME.

I APOLOGIZE FOR HURTING ANYONES FEELINGS, I HONESTLY WONDER HOW THE WOOD SUBRAIL LINER THAT HOLDS THE RUBBER ON, COULD END UP AN INCH SHORT ON BOTH ENDS ?

I PROBABLY SHOULD HAVE POSTED THIS IN THE MECHANIC'S SECTION BUT I AM INTERESTED IN HEARING BACK FROM GUYS WHO PLAY ON THESE TABLES.

I only try to play on the back wall GC's. They play pretty decent. Hate the Diamond up front. Yes, they need to be brought up to snuff but that is hard for anyone right now.

This was what you said in your first post and I answered it, my feelings are not hurt,I have had people really hurt me before , so anything you say is probably just going to be an annoyance.
I realize you are a table mechanic but I am not sure what you hoped to gain by bashing Kolby's tables. If you don't like them fine, I seriously doubt you will ever be asked to come and work on them after this post. My biggest question is "Did you talk to Jimmy or anyone who was in charge about fixing them or offer them your services?
I still like RKC but I wonder how he will feel when one of his proteges does something uncalled for like this? {You might want to call and explain what you were thinking to him yourself before someone else does}
