What happened to the S.E.A.L. Tour?

Just curious if anyone knows what happened to the Southeast Amatuer Ladies Tour? They used to have a great turnout.

Let's be honest here...we all know women can't really play pool, at least not with someone who can really play. They are better off doing what they do best, practicing needle point and rubbing the backs of real players...can you imagine a gal playing a three-day session for $$$$? Oh the humanity...

Interesting...

Yeah, I miss the backrubs at the tournaments. That is why I attended.
Really I just wanted to know what happened to the tour, not your philosophy on women's pool!

Actually, the main woman that was the glue that held the tour together, moved to Texas. There were also some discord within the ranks, from what I have been told. It seems the less serious players wanted deeper payouts, while the more serious wanted money going to Q'ers.
I moved from NY where I played on both NEWT & Cat, which only paid the top 12. I was shocked to get a call after I won just two matches in my first SEAL event, that I had money coming...
A player vote at the end of that season changed the payout from 2/3rds to 1/2. Still very generous IMO, but not generous enough apparently. A large group of women stopped playing. The next season, saw much smaller fields and then when the player running everything moved it just fell apart.
Some other players tried to get it going, and two more events were held (mostly due to the generosity of the John, the owners of the Poolroom-Duluth & Marietta) but no one really had the time to invest to get it back on it's feet.
Then Mike Janis stepped in and decided to try a Woman's Viking tour. He has an event scheduled next month at Mr. Cues, that is WPBA sanctioned. The problem will be in getting a lot of local participants, Cues host a monthly Ladies tournament, that has gotten very popular and largely populated by the disgruntle SEAL players. Not many are serious enough to pay two member fees + an entry for an event they have little hope of cashing in.

I frequented the SEAL tour events while the tour was going on, and I always had a great time. The ladies were all very nice, and many SEAL players now play the WPBA events. I remember seeing Janet Atwell, Betty Sessions, Lisa Marr, CueChick, Julie Seaver, and many other top name lady players. I wonder what ever happened to Julie Turco. She was hot!

That's too bad. I always enjoyed going to the events in Athens @ Murphys. Maybe someone will get another SE tour together for all the ladies who love to play.

Mike Janis has started a Ladies' Nine Ball Tour. We are having our second stop at Mr. Cue's on June 16th. Anyone can play except for the top 32 WPBA Pros.

I was a board member on the SEAL Tour and moved away for almost all of 2005. When I moved back, we had some ladies try and revitalize the SEAL Tour, but it was tough after having been on "hiatus" for a year. I really hope that The Viking Ladies' Tour works out!!
