What has helped improve your game the most?

#1 - Going to an instructor (Steve Jennings pooltchr on here. Having a knowledgeable extra set of eyes on me helped my game go further faster than I could have possibly done on my own. Thanks again Steve.)
#2 - Practice, practice and more practice
#3 - This forum with a special thanks to streamers like Lenny (Fast Lenny), Ray (Big Truck), Mike (TV Mike) and guys who post 14.1 videos like Marop and Dave Sapolis who I might add offered help over the phone which was really nice of him. I'm sure I'm missing a thank you to others, but I have a belly full of Miller Lite now so I'll blame it on that. If I forgot you.....you know who you are and I thank you.
 
A wholesale change in my mental approach has change my game more than anything else. I have spent many hours and much energy replacing those old bad habits. I am learning to move on from bad shots and rolls immediately and keep my mind clear for my next visit. in the past they were carrying over in to my next shot and causing a snowball effect and it would just keep getting worse and worse. It is hard to let them go when this habit has been ingrained for years but it can be done and the pay off has been huge.
Still a work in progress but we are getting there.

-play with top players in the pool house
-gamble

LD Shafts and Aiming Systems

Nobody has mentioned LD shafts and only 1 poster has said anything about aiming systems. I find that amazing and something to think about.
 
What has helped my game the most, you ask?
I would have to say the development of the leather tip. Prior to it's inception I was miscuing lake a crazy person. :)
 
The 3 things that have impacted my game the most..

1. Figured out a repeatable stance and approach to each shot.. Same thing EVERY time has been the most helpful.

2. Developed a stronger mental game with help using sports Imagery.. (thanks to Blackjack)

3. Practice with a purpose.. HUGE IMHO...
 
Accu-Stats Video Productions...

They were an incredible asset even before the days of commentary, but once they added Grady, Billy, Buddy, etc. the amount of high end knowledge available for almost nothing was beyond belief...

I doubt many of those guys would have shared half of what they do on tape if you had simply cornered them in a pool hall...

If you have never seen any of the early tapes do youself a favor and hunt them down...
 
Believing in myself when no one else did and putting my ass on the line. Playing for big money and enterring as many tournaments as I could. You have to get past, "THE FEAR FACTOR!"
 
When I learned to;

Trust what I decide
Accept the results no matter what the outcome
Always use a Pre-shot routine
