What has to be done--joint-shaft collar diameters do not match

Just picked up a nice C series -D-- Butt with a .851-or .852 Diameter @ the joint to replace a D series with a .850 diameter.


My old growth shafts are also .850 at the collars...

What is the correct process a cue mech does to correct this.

If the collar is too large it can be taken down and then refinished. If it is too small then additional finish can be added to make up that very slight difference. It sounds like we are talking about between .001 - .002 which is really, really small.

The Joint is just large enough in diameter to see it is not a correct fit .

Turning it down and a refinish sounds better than messing with the shafts for sure.

Putting a little extra finish on the shafts seems like the way to go unless the butt needs refinished.
