what is a "Bump"?

Hi,

I've noticed that so many people on AZ use the word "Bump". But could somebody explain to me what it means ?

In general, a bump in electronic communication is like a gentle nudge when you are trying to get someone's attention.

If you want to send an email to test it, it can be called a bump. If you want to send an email to someone to remind them they need to do something, it can be a bump. Like the previous poster said, in online forums, it is reminding people the thread is there by moving it to the top of the list by an additional post, called a bump.
