1. Is it acceptable to ask your opponent to make sure all the balls are touching the 9 ball in a 9 ball rack?

2. Is it acceptable to ask your opponent to rack with the one ball right on the spot even though there is a devot?

3. Is it acceptable to demand the balls on the back row all tight withthe balls on the second row on a 8 ball rack?

4. Is it acceptable to ask for all the balls around the 8 ball tight on a 8 ball rack?

5. If your opponent wants to rack his own, but he wants to say 9 ball off the break does not count...is that acceptable?

Now, if your opponent refuses to break the balls unless you give him the rack he likes, even though you believe his demand is unacceptable...what do you say?

On the other hand, if your opponent refuses to rerack and will not let you racc your own and there is no ref around, what do you do?

1) of course it is!
2) absolutely that is the rule!
3) all balls should be tight throughout the entire rack or as tight as possible!
4) same answer!
5) sometimes
6) No game!
7) why am I answering these questions? :D

It might be helpful to disclose the situation... APA league, BCA League, etc... or is it a money game where you are in the middle of a set, or just playing by game? Or is this just for fun?

Answer could depend greatly on the situation.

1) no
2) no
3) no
4) no
5) ridiculous. does he also want to play win by two and balls frozen on the rail get the butt of the cue spot?
You dont need all the balls frozen to win. Sure it helps but alot depends on the table and the rack and make asking these questions as absolutes makes me say no alot.

Some tables rack really tough and if that is the case then you just have to fade it or play rack your own.

If the table is racking ok and your opponent is giving you el sluggo, then you have to either
a) speak up and make him give you a good rack
b) rack your own
c) break em as is

Generally, I always like to adopt the position that I am going to give my opponent a great rack, but I expect the same in return. The other day a great player broke and ran four racks on me and then when I finally got a game he gave me a big slug of a rack. The one was not even touching either ball. When I asked him to rerack and he copped an attitude, all hell broke loose lol. The railbirds found it quite amusing but I was hot as hell and refused to play unless we racked our own or he gave me an equal chance to win as I had been giving him. We eventually played rack your own. And I lost 10-7. Lesson learned: arguments like this over the rack make it hard to win. Alot of players enjoy trying to make you mad and will try this as an edge to win.

I usually like the top three balls to be frozen. If the bottom balls are not frozen, alot of times you will get a dead ball out of it.
