What is Aiming?

What is aiming? Aiming is trying to find the "somewhere" to put the CB to make the or a OB go where you want, in most cases.

So first you have to find the somewhere for the OB before you can find the somewhere for the CB in order to put theOB there. That CB somewhere needs to take into account the variables that can influence getting the CB there.

Sometimes, the somewhere is about putting a OB in a pocket, sometimes, where the OB goes is of little concern in regards as to where the somewhere for the CB needs to be, ie. freezing a CB to the rack in 14.1.

Sometimes, that somewhere you need for the OB to go does not allow the CB to have a direct path to it as in having to go rail first to get to the OB somewhere.

Sometimes, the playing conditions change during a match requiring for adjustments of where the somewheres are.

Sometimes, knowing where those somewhere comes from nothing more than gut feelings from past experiences.

Sometimes, there are no somewheres therefore you have to make those somewheres.

Sometimes, most times than not....where you find those somewheres is all up to you and you alone.

Aiming is nothing more than just going somewhere......

Pretty much.

I think we can all agree with that. Sounds pretty definitive to me.

We can probably close this thread now as you have totally nailed it in one.

Maybe start another thread like "What is a cue ball?". Should make a fascinating discussion.

You know something? That's a good question. What is a "cute" ball? Never seen a ball that is cute, nor would I use that word to describe one.

There he goes again, fixating in a forum (Aiming) talking about a game he supposedly plays yet never participates in the focused forum for (14.1).

Duckie needs tetanus shots -- he certainly is lockjawed on the topic of aiming -- to get him to progress in his pool studies. Maybe even get into that next rack in 14.1. ;)

Then you haven't seen enough balls. If you lived in China and sourced billiard products you would have seen a lot of cute balls. :-)

Aiming is the act of choosing where to point your cue. You can only aim your cue at the stationary cue ball because the cue, directed by the player, is the instrument that propels the cue ball along a path. So aiming is the preparation to do that. Shooting follows aiming and will always follow aiming.

And if another player says he uses aiming systems then he is what?

Darren Appleton endorses the SEE system.

What is he then? Who is right, Darren or John or are they both right?

The point is that you don't know because you never try.

John was at Stan's house, he and Stan get along very well. John has his opinion and Stan has his opinions.

If John came out and said he changed his mind from the stance he took in this video would you change yours?

I'll take two DVDs. Man this is gonna be a deep movie. I can't wait for the jaw dropping, head scratching, confusing looks experience. I'm sure the light bulb will go off at the very end and I'll have to watch it again.(that's why I want two)

Aiming during game play!
=================================

Aiming starts with knowing where the cb needs to be for the next shot.
This tells you how your going to strike whitey. This will start the process on how you connect to the object ball. When going outside center, we ( I )will then make a judgment call do to speed and distance off that connection.(changing the shot line from the first established connection).

Once I've established this I start the stroking process,Its back and forth from the ob to cb until everything feels right.

Afterwards my thoughts are this....I guessed that right...or ...crap I hit is to slow.
And sometimes....my stroke just sukkks.:D

My aiming Process!
