What is the best way to give up weight and still win!

Knowing your opponents speed and your own!

Lock, thats alot of good advice to go by, I say just never give up more weight than you can carry, it's best to know your opponents true speed, and know exactly your own!

You know back in the old days a poolplayer had the line on every "Show Nuff " player, and the rest of um that gambled , just from word of mouth, down to the last two balls on any given game without ever seeing one play, without todays cells phones, ect........

Although I have matched up with players without knowing anything about them, but I'm not going busted to um, if I'm loosing, but will gamble to a point!

Well this day and age it is to easy to get the line on someone, but the player your trying to get down with don't always play according to your script, take me for instant,.......

I play a 6 speed on a bad day, maybe that was the line given to you , but my poolplaying fluxuates so that I maybe a 6 speed now, then the next hour 7 or 8 speed, hours later, shoot a 10 speed for several hours, then out of nowhere go back to a 6 or 7 speed, hopefully your busted before then, not that I'm playing the game that way, it's just how I play, and I adjust my bet accordingly.

So for some players it's better to plan on them playing their best speed and adjust your spot if any from there.

If the pool God happens to sprinkle his magic pool dust on me, you better watchout!:)

I am going to stay away from you. And that way I may keep my money in my pocket! How are you doing Cat? Can I get the 6 and the break? He, He, He.

I try not to ever show my best speed! Save some for later!

The trouble with this thinking is....
..if you hide too long, eventually you have nothing to hide.
When I was young,I busted a lot of wise guys with a rep.
Talent is like a muscle....if you don't use it, you lose it.

Haven't responded to this thread before 'cause I feel it's too ambiguous.
Giving weight has a lot of variables...the break has different values based
on players and conditions...wild balls are the same thing.

Hello PT109,
Glad to have your input. I appreciate it.
If, I am in the pool hall in the back somewhere, I practice with my A game to keep it sharp and there when I need it. I never just forget about that game. When I play with some of my students I also use it. When they are learning to play they do not know which game I am using. I realize if you do not use it you lose it! Very true..... Thanks PT109.

Good Post!

You need to find a player that you know you can spot and negotiate a game that you know you can give him. But when you win and he asks for the adjustment be hesitant and if you know you can give him more do it but let him know it will be the last adjustment before you start so he will have to either keep playing the game or go practice.

Lockup, you came up with a good one! Thanks.
