What is the dfference between Predator Pre-cat 314, Cat 314 and 314-2?

i must admit i just wrote a little bit of info. but i wont grace this thread again unless i can find my receipt from predator at least validating my story on my returned and replaced shafts, in an attempt to produce some kind of validity to my situation. so if i cant i part by saying....IGNORANCE IS BLISS!!! :grin-square:

Thanks for all the information guys!!!! It is very appreciated....

BUT, shafts having a foam core was more info than I needed or wanted...:grin-square:

So the point is moot as far as Im concerned......so, breathe deeply and let it go......:boring2:

Reviving an old thread here. I have a 314 precat that has only the 314 mark on it next to the joint and is a solid maple shaft with NO radial construction. I guess it must have been a prototype and never intended to be sold to the public? Pic attached.

looks like some vertical lines. sure its not laminated?? some of the early ones had varying splices, not dead straight and uniform. from this pic its look laminated to me. never seen a solid 314. read post #16 https://forums.azbilliards.com/thre...redator-pre-cat-314-cat-314-and-314-2.203395/

I don't think they ever did a laminated one, as in flat strips of wood, they were always "pie". They varied in how many sections they used.
that's still laminated. i should have been more specific. point is i don't think they ever made solid314's, at least not offered for sale. in that guys pic you can see lines pretty easily.

Got lines...eye check booked.
for you if you can't see them. the reflection is blocking those in the middle. look on the right side of the shaft. there are lamination lines there. this is not a solid wood shaft.

Nope, no radial construction on this shaft. Blow up the 1st pic and you'll see. I have another precat 314 that has very distinctive lines in it especially closer to the joint where it's clean. The shaft I pictured above is a solid maple shaft I bought from an individual MANY years ago. Any lines you see are grain lines and they are not close to straight like the radial lines would be. There have a been a couple posts where some believe it was probably a prototype 314 shaft that may not have been intended to be sold to the public. It plays well but has a noticeably softer hit to it, (not as stiff) than the radial 314 pre cat I have. Here are a couple other pics of the butts together and the tip of the solid shaft, (and the original pic is #3).

I have one real similar. The other on left is a laminate, I believe. Probably should get rid of the one, hasn't been touched in years
