Make sure you get a table with 4.0 inch up to 4.5 inch pockets. If they are bigger you will just learn to shoot sloppy. (You can have pocket tightened properly with wood and normal facings or some people just add more facings, but it makes the pocket reject balls that it really shouldn't) we use to play on a "triple shimmed" table. You had to shoot medium soft otherwise the ball would just rattle. It made position play impossible on certain shots.
