What is this jump cue worth?

I spotted a Lucasi Hybrid jump cue at a local pawn shop over six months ago. I could not take it apart, and it would only turn a little bit. The price tag is $90.

About two months back, I stopped in a gain and asked a guy if he could take it apart. He looked at it and determined that it was a kid's cue and was a one piece stick. I made another attempt at it and got an 1/8 gap.

Today, it is still there, with a few more dings and dents and a 1/4 inch separation. I ask a different guy if he can take it apart. Three guys tried it without any luck. He said the lowest he could go is $75. I was thinking about $20 if it could not be taken apart.

What would cause the joint to freeze up?

Would WD-40 be worth a try?

I have a Lucasi Jump Break cue. I had a problem with the joints between the jump and butt handle that they would not separate. I called Lucasi customer service and they told me to use WD-40 in between the joints should allow them to loosen up and separate, worked perfect on mine! :) Its little metal pieces or gunk that gets in between the Uni-loc that causes them to get stuck. If the handle and the shaft separate enough to put WD-40 then it would be a good idea. Problem is how far you can haggle the pawn shop they usually don't like to go below what they price it as at their lowest price. Good luck though! :D

This is not uncommon w/unilock joints - if the joint/pin is not kept clean this can happen. Yes, I would try some kind of lubricant like w-40 but do not go wild with it as it could possibly cause problems w/glue. Once apart, you can clean the pin and the insert and maybe even hit the pin with some very light sanding w/very fine sandpaper.

Thank you for your responses.

I don't think I want it if more than $40. I have a Huebler B/J cue from 1992, so don't need it. I like how light it is, like jumping with the shaft.

I probably won't mention the tips to them, and maybe if it is still there in the summer....a clearance price.
