Personally when I think Wrapless, I think HOUSE Cue. but there seems to be a group of cue buyer who want Highly Figured Wrapless Cues.

Personally I like leather, and Linen Best even though I only have One Cue with a Leather Wrap. As with Leather & Linen your Hand Can Reference where you are on the Cue, Close to the butt, or Close to the Forearm. as the Wrap gives a Reference Point IMO....

So I thought it would be fun to see what others like on their Cue a Wrap, or No Warp and Why.

I'm a converted wrapless guy. My first cue had no wrap. Used it for a few years. Next cue I decided I wanted a wrap, darn it. Used that for a while, but honestly, still liked the old feel better. It just seems like I get more feedback without a wrap, but it could just a be a psychological thing. Either way, I upgraded to a P2 (wrapless) and I love the feel of it.

(Of course, a P2 would feel better than a Lucasi regardless of wrap vs. no-wrap, but nonetheless, I'm glad I have a wrapless cue again.)

Any kind of leather or lizard wrap for me...

Moi aussi! (Me too!)

It's got to be some sort of animal skin...lol. A lot of animals have been harmed in the making of my cues...

I like the rubber slip on grips that billiard players use. I can hold the cue as lightly as I want without the cue slipping the smallest bit. Their two downsides are that they are ugly and they get ripped up in a few months time.

I prefer Irish Linen... it's just what I'm accustomed to now. My first and third cues were wrapless. Don't like the look of leather, really, and definitely not lizard skin.

i like textured leather. i shot with a linen wrapped cue for years but i made the switch to leather and i love it. also, i think it adds a touch of class to any cue. dont care much for lizard.

Count me in as one of those. None of the cues I've ever owned has had a wrap and I just feel more comfortable with the grip of the bare wood. A leather stacked wrap comes close...

I definitely like 'no warp' on all my cues... :-)

Heck, lizard or rattlesnake or hamster skin is about as appealing to me as seeing someone wearing clashing plaids and garish stripes...

I go for the slightly understated: black stack leather wrap, or perhaps a solid black irish linen... together with birdseye maple and ebony points...

Striking, understated with a touch of flair.

Sheesh... I resemble that remark. How many hamsters would have to die before you got enough skin for just one wrap???

LOL... sorry for the inadvertent comment. It sure wasn't directed at you, and I apologize :-)

By the way, I think hamsters are great, gerbils too. Never had one, but a friend did. Funny how the cat liked them too... although for entirely different reasons. Somehow, the cat always won.

I've never heard of a hamster skin wrap, and just made it up on the fly. Or a rabbit skin wrap either, unless someone wanted a furry wrap.

Some people have those furry things on the wheels of their cars, others on the hardtop, others on the steering wheel.

Just what is the thing about the furry stuff?

Just gimme a slick black stack wrap anyday...

To Wrap Or Not To Wrap

I like either no wrap or linen, but the linen has to be as smooth as glass, Bryan Mort's wrap on my cue is just like glass. I grew up playing with house cues and sneaky pete's so it feels fine also with no wrap.

I like the stack wrap so much that when I get my new cue i'm going to have it done the same! also with the same color Probably :)

Wrap V/s Wrapless

I Myself perfer to use a wrapless cue always have and always will.
I used to have a limited edition predator (le-9) for you cue buffs, and I had to get rid of it becuase I did not like the wrap. It might be all in my head but I believe it makes a difference in the feel. I now have a jerry olivier custom cue with no wrap. I love the way it plays. nice and solid.

I had a new brown natural penetration Stack wrap done on my Predator about a month ago. I will never go back to anything else. I love it!!!

Depends what part of the hamster you are getting the skin from ;-) And whilst we're on the subject you may want to check this very educational page on Hamsters.

Cracking straight back on topic I've recently switched from Irish Linen to a leather wrap. At present I'm liking the leather more, but have not tried it in a really hot/humid/high-pressure/flop-sweat environment yet.

Whatever works. Rubber, leather, double sided tape. I could care less as long as it works.
i've even gone as far as to rub Coca-Cola on to a housecue in a bar, and let it dry nice and sticky.

Funny we should mention leather wraps. A buddy of mine shoots with a P2 Predator, the one with the maple and dark wood alternating butt...tan leather wrap. The seam started to come apart on it, so he sent it back to Predator and they redid it for free...took them three weeks though...then he gets it back, and it's still not perfect. I think I have officially talked him into getting a wrap done by Mike Webb...so you may have some business coming your way again Mike.

I'm already a lean, mean fighting machine but I do appreciate the suggestions... that last picture... ouch.
