What is your favorite tip to use with a CF shaft, and what hardness do you choose for the tip?

What is your favorite tip to use with a CF shaft, and what hardness do you choose for the tip?

Also, do you think a pad is something that is good to have added, between the ferrule and the tip?

I am getting this HAMA (custom shaft from Japan) CF shaft in, and asking, because it will need the ferrule and tip replaced (due to the ferrule being damaged), but it also has this pad between the ferrule and tip, for some reason. Not sure if a Pad will be needed, when I get the shaft repaired.

Anyways, I really do not care for Soft hitting tips. I like a good Medium hardness tip. Are Soft tips best for CF shafts for some reason? I see that CF shafts always come standard with a good Soft tip, like a Kamui Black for example, for some reason, so I figured that Soft tips might be the most popular for CF shafts. Also, not sure if needing a pad under the tip is needed or not.

Thanks a lot for any thoughts.

I don't know why they say that soft tips are best for CF, and I know that a lot of the pros go that way.

Before CF shafts, I liked hard tips. And now that I'm back at the game and new to CF shafts, I'm experimenting myself. I started with soft and medium, but my stroke is coming back, and I'm moving back to hard tips. I don't have a preferred one, but Kamui always worked nicely for me.

Mori hard is all I use.

Some you'll find the hard tip named Quick.
Never deforms once the sides are trimmed properly.
Lasts a long time, I play about 15 hrs a week and that'll last about 5-7 mths.
If your not a top level player, I'd consider the medium.

Best tip to use, with ANY shaft, is the one you like. The shafts that the vendor wants to use a pad with, include a pad, so keep the pad if you are changing tips.

Are you saying most of tigers tips are bad?
no that is not what I am saying. Tiger Onyx and Sniper work well w/ CF. For reference you can see what they are putting on their own CF shafts. Darren Appleton also has new tip that they are producing for his line - but I have no experience with those...yet. they are called Nitro - just resently released.

TB med or med soft work great for me. Or ultraskin fire soft/med play well too. Currently TB med on mezz expro shaft, TB med soft on rhino cf and ultraskin fire soft on sawdust shaft
