What kind of ferrule am I looking for?

Go with ivory. If you want a harder hit then put a harder tip on it.
MULLY
can't stand dirty ferrules either

There are several options available that will alter an IVORY ferrule's hit from hard to soft and vice-versa...

1. sleeved or capped !

2. with pad or without

3. and tip density

there's a few configurations there that can pretty much give everyone what they are looking for in hit and playablilty with ivory along with the complimenting taper of the shaft...

Just thought I'd throw that out there !

titan is a soft material and will give a very soft hit similar to pvc or abs. they also dont stay very clean. if your looking for a harder hit and something that is bright white and will stay clean, go with Tiger Saber-T.

is what i have on my break cue and after 2 years, not a mark of chalk on it. its a crappy blurry picture, but the excalibur in my signature below, click on it for the pic.

can buy 1" solid rod from Muellers( http://www.poolndarts.com ) or some repair/makers will stock them.

mmmm waffles!
am I helping yet?

ok fine - I love my ivoryx ferrulle because its hits fine and cleans up nice.

ps. don't use water with magic erasor - ethyl alchol works great and doesn't lift the grain like water will. Don't use isopropyl (standard rubbing alc) because it has additives that stay behind when it evaporates.

How does Aegis compare to Ivory, in term of the hit?

I have never done the actual comaprison testing myself but from general feedaback and machining characteristics I would say they are pretty darn close to being consistant with one another !

Not trying to be rude, but I am surprised the ferrule bothers you with shafts that dirty??? Maybe it's the pics.
