What kind of home table

I grew up playing on full-sized/9’ equipment, and always admired the historic champions, so I am prejudiced. If you think you would like to take up pocket billiards as a serious hobby, then ‘serious’ equipment & financial commitment will be required. Those who only occasionally ‘knock around’ balls on a 7’ bar table are usually not even bothered playing in a severely cramped space where a short, ’cut-down’ cue is often required. Years ago, a neighbor with such a setup would invite over to play. The kind of frustration I experienced then convinced me to install a reinforcing steel beam (to eliminate a support pier/post) in the basement of my home so adequate playing space would allow installation of a quality 9 footer. Not something you should likely consider though (obviously) unless you plan to stay indefinitely.
