What Kind of Pen?

When you guys sign your cues, what kind of pen do you use, and what stage of the finishing operatin do you sign it at?
I was doing some experimenting with different pens, and using Chris Hightower's Cue Cote finish, and it seems a lot of the pens run under the finish.
I did a search, but it yielded no relevant results:( :( .
Thanks!

I use a caligraphy pen and gold paint from Michaels craft store. Ensure that it is dry before applying the epoxy. I usually put a thin coat over the writing and allow to cure before finishing the rest of the cue.

Mist your finish over the signature and allow to dry before spraying a heavier coat.

If you ae signing the wood with the pen I used Perma Pigma pens. Others will work fine also. Then you need to put a very thin seal coat over it and let it dry before putting a flow out coat of Cue Cote on it. You can use Cue Cote or a clear five minute epoxy to seal the signature.

I use a pigma micron pen 01 before the final spray. Also, make sure to not use a heavy grit sandpaper that will make deep scratches in the finish. The ink will bleed into them.

Type in "Signing" for your Key Word

Scroll down to the "Cues" Group in the "Search in Forum(s)" box and click on "Cue Machinery". Then hold the Control Key on your keyboard and click on "Ask the Cuemaker". This should highlight both of those forums.

Click on "Search Now" and you should have several threads that are relevant and give good information.

You are quite welcome. I'm not in league with 85% of these guys, but I try to help where I can. I'm an IT pro and my Google-Fu is strong  . I think sometimes I take for granted the way I search out things, and I just thought rather than say, "It's been covered, search for it", I could show exactly how I did it.

I hope it didn't come off the wrong way, I was in a hurry, and remembered the topic come up a few times in the not so recent past and a lot of good info was shared.

I just used a normal ball point pen and I found that if you seal with a little thin super glue it works. I did some tests and epoxy seems to act as a solvent for the ink and make it run but I've been OK with the super glue. My writing is so bad that I hesitate to sign anything and I don't have the equipment to inlay or engrave a signature so I just put my initials and the month/year the cue was made or I don't sign them at all.
