what kind of spot could I get from top pros?

Exactly. The last part you mention is the reason why I have never ask for, or accepted, a spot. I'd rather lose and learn something than win a get a few dollars.

why play these guys at all? if you want to learn something save your money and watch them take someone else's money. that's how i learned. then play and play and play some more until you get it. so many people look up to these guys like they're the next coming of Christ and can't wait to get baptized. i guess you will have that in any sport hell i did some of the same when i first started playing. the truth is it's hard to learn this game by going broke.

I think at a certain point you need to step up, even if you know you will get pummeled. Playing against better players will improve your game in long run. The more I play the best players that I can, I get used to not missing balls. I find that I eventually don't become concerned about the prospect of missing, it just so happens that I pocket anything that I look at.

That said, if a C player wanted to play a pro then you are right, it isn't going to do them much good. They will just get pummeled.

that's what local tourney's are for. i've followed this way just about my whole life and am an A player. sure i gambled big as a kid that's how i got my name skins but the bulk of my "learning" was done when i had no pressure on me as you would if you had money on the line. that way i could concentrate on what i was seeing and take it all in with no distractions. just watching, asking ?'s and playing all the time was the ticket for me and the same as i was told by a world beater later.
