What Should I DO !!!!

I ordered a custom cue from Colorado Cues in Nov. 2002 and was told that the cue would be ready in 3 months. According to Dan Breggin of Colorado Cues payment in full was required for cues under $1000 and I of course paid the full price in advance. Now it's Oct. 2003 and I have lost complete contact with Dan Breggin.
He gave me the run around for 5 months and I was new to ordering custom cues and went along with all the delays. Now it's 11 months later and I can't contact him for JACK !!!! His website in still in operations but when you email you get no reply and when you call you just get a automated answering service that does not even say Colorado Cues anymore. Please help me !!! What can I do to get my money back or a cue....I made the mistake and paid him with a Cashiers Check not having any reason to dis-trust him. Any help would be thankful.

Discuss the problem with the U.S. Postal Inspector, the law enforcement arm of the post office. Since you used the U.S. Mail to conduct a transaction which turned out to be fradulent on his account, A FEDERAL OFFENSE HAS BEEN COMMITTED.

I've used the Inspector's office before and believe me, they'll appear on his doorstep wearing a badge and a gun. Trust me, the inspector works.

I assume that you still have the receipt for the cashier's check. They'll need a copy of it as proof.

Very nice advise..........and keep everyone posted here. If he doesn't settle up and you have to use this method to get a result............it would be nice for others to know too. In case they were thinking about ordering from him.

I was going to advise you to contact the American Cuemakers Association, but I see Colorado Cues is no longer on its membership roster. Hmm...

Follow kokopuffs' advice and talk to the US Postal Inspector. File a complaint with the Better Business Bureau too. The BBB doesn't have any law enforcement authority, but they'll try to contact Breggins on your behalf and will keep a report on file so other prospective patrons can be warned.

In the future, don't put 100% down on a cue. The standard is 25-50%.

I live near Littleton and just now contacted him. Yes, that IS the Dan Breggin of Colorado Cues and he told me that he is no longer making pool cues.

I'd recommend that you speak with him requesting a refund.

Happy to help.

Although I've never spoken with Dan B. before, I noticed a bit of hesitation in his voice when I telephoned him.

skip the post office and take the address you got from koko and show up there yourself with a gun. looks to me like this is a complete scam job. i would call the number first and threaten him, something like, you can change your phone number overnight, but you can't change addresses that fast, so give me my money or the next time I ask, you will be looking down the barrel of my smith and wesson. I hate it when people rob other people in business transactions on the net, it gives everybody else a bad name who is trying to conduct legitimate business transactions.

You won't get any where with threats. If he's out of business why is his web site still active, and he also still has a link to the
American Cue Makers Assoc. I would also call Dan Dishaw
who is President. He is a great guy. If there is any way he can help, he will. What was the design out of curiousity.

michael's probably right, I am just getting over the flu and have a headache. maybe i am just in rare form right now, but it really does burn me up to hear a story like this one.

it is important to remember that cuemakers live on what i call "cuemaker time".

the equation is......stated timetable + 6-12 months OR MORE = cuemakers' time.

cuemakers are notoriously bad with their time. it could be,,,,prioritizing the bigger orders at the expense of your order, overloading themselves with more than they can handle(very common), something going wrong in their shop, or just damn laziness. tim padgett, a very good cuemaker in LA was taken to people's court over this very issue. from what was told to me, he came out looking pretty much like a dumb-ass, and of course, was forced to deliver(money or cue,,,i don't know which).

i have dealt with two cuemakers over the past five years, who know me very very very well. one would think that they would at least be on time with me....................NOPE! so you should assume all your dealings with cuemakers will have timetable issues

that's not to say ALL cuemakers are this way. the "professional" ones who make a limited number of cues per year seem pretty good with their time.

if you're thoroughly frustrated, try small claims court.

The best thing to do is to contact the authorities first, make sure you have proof like the other guy said, and then take action. This is the safest and sure way to handle something like this. If I were you, I would get your money back instead of a cue, because the guy might do a half-assed job since he is obviously not in business anymore.

Contacting the US Postal Inspector's office would save you much time. They do the footwork and if he doesn't make good, then he is jailed until his court date. Forget small claims except as a last resort.

Contacting Dan Breggin

I called him and he indeed answered the phone. As soon as he heard my voice he hung up on me. I then called back only to get an answering machine. I may write him a certified letter and see if I can get a response.

Thanks for asking !!!

Alright. Time to contact U.S. Postal Inspectors. He obviously don't know what's in store for him. And I mean it. This is an outright ripoff. The P.O. will work for you. Keep me posted.

It's one thing to have problems. It's another to have issues and don't cop to it and we all had issues. Don't even bother trying to contact him again. Just contact the inspectors and send the your receipt for the cashier's check. They'll get him even though it'll take some months (not years). Be patient. Everyone has problems but when someone refuses to cop to something... You gave him the chance.
