i heard that if you get a soft tip you can get alot more english out of your cue.. if i would get a soft tip would i be able to break with the cue too?? and what tip would you reccomend i get?? i dont really know anything about tips so anyone who can help me , that would be great

Most

soft tips I have seen mushroom and lose shape especially if you break with it. They also mute the feed back for the feel you will develope over time. It is not true in my experience that a soft tip gives the most english. A triangle is a good all around Medium tip and very inexpensive if you are a relatively inexperienced player. As you improve, the best tip out there is the new domed pro hard or medium Talisman. That is my opinion, do a search and you will have enough reading for the rest of the day about others' opinions.

Well

Really the tip of the cue is up to you and your playing style, everyone shoots different so the tip should reflect that. If you dont like to chalk alot then I would go with a softer tip the english and spin is really to do with speed the cloth and where you hit the cue ball... I can pull just as much english with a soft tip as I can with a very hard tip... brands are all up to you find the one that helps you the most

Hard breaking with a soft tip is silly imo. A Moori tip goes for 20-40 installed nowadays. You can buy a jump break for $70. why ruin your shooting cue for another 30-40 bucks? use a house cue or get a dedicated break.

PS: i prefer a softer tip(moori med is my favorite). I believe you can get as much snot with a crappier tip, but i believe a better(softer) tip to be a little more forgiving.
