You are still student, both in the college and in pool. In my opinion you dont need to take a vacation somewhere. playing pool is vacation in itself. This is not yet your career. Just take it easy, enjoy the game, this will loosen you up for sure.(hopefully will make you play better too)
Unless you are dreaming of becoming like "the master"(EFREN), You should bang your head on the wall if you cant run the rack from the break on a good lay.

to FL,

i like your vacation ideas!

I have a question for you. Where would you rather be? In a beautiful beach sorrounded by beautiful women on a perfect day, willing to do whatever you wish or playing pool at your best with all the poolgods watching you?

yeah...i sometimes bang my head on my cue whenever there are only 5-6 balls left, well spread-out on a game of 15 balls, and i failed to run-out nor misplacing the cue ball...:D
i think i better ease off and enjoy the game first while im still in college, but someday, im planning on giving it a shot as my career...:D

Every player should have a 2nd sport, Nicklaus plays tennis, a lot of golfers fish. I would prescribe to you this, lock up your cue for a week, do not touch one, hop on your Saberliner and jet over to St Andrews and golf for a solid week. If you don't have a 2nd sport, jet to the carribbean, do not eat, just drink frozen Margarittas and pina coladas, you can survive on the fruit. Just get drunk and make love to as many native women you can latch on to. Sober up and return to civilization. Unlock your cue, game back, problems all solved, no worries then mate. :D

More very good advice from FL.

Generally, when you take a little break from pool, you'll come back a little stronger. At least it worked for me.

If I think I've had a bad day playing all I have to do is go out to my vehicle pop in disk and watch any WPBA match. Then I know it could have been worse. After about 10 min.(all I can take of that) I am ready to go back and hit some more.

Good & Bad Days

Good and bad days means you are inaccurate and inconsistent in pocketing balls. It is that simple. Missing shots makes for bad days, making shots makes for good days. Do not look for other reasons. Get yourself a professional aiming system and stop the agony.

FOCUS...FOCUS...FOCUS...
If you would like a good practice technique, try using different house cues instead of your own personal cue, and just hit balls with very firm tight bridge for about an hour "without using chalk"!!!
This practice will almost guarantee you to be more deliberate in your control.
Putting yourself in different situations is GOOD, because it broadens your comfort zone. The PROS have been in so many situations, in so many places, in so many conditions, that they adapt very quickly to the current event .
The great champion Luther Lassiter would sometimes come in late to the world tournament, and would hit just a few balls ...
setting up long straight-in shots and hitting them quite hard.
I asked him why he practiced like this...he said "If I come into a match knowing how straight I can hit the ball,
I know what shots will work (TODAY), and which ones will not".

halhoule, i think even the best player which is "god-knows-who", sometimes experience this kind of thing, it doesnt necessarily mean that if one is having a bad day, he is a poor player, u may not know, he might make a "love-set" for you...:D
anyway, i got my new cue and i think i increased my ball-running average in a 15-ball rotation game to more or less 4 balls per turn. it was around 3-4 before.
also, expecting less from yourself helps a lot in getting the rhythm back once u feel that ur having a bad day.
