i couldnt find the cuemakers section :s so ill post it here.

i live in belgium, and no cuemakers here. im so adicted to pool, that id love to start learning more about cue's (thx purdman for offering to send me the bluebook) and how to make them. i dont have a cuemaker where i can just start and watch him , and do small things.

what i do have, is a very good friend who is a artist who uses only wood, and has a lathe. he told me i could use his workshop anytime i wanted for free. Do u think that with the combination of how to make a cue video's and his help in learning me all about wooods etc would be interesting for me to start?

or will i never be able (or very hard) to one day, make my own cue without having a real cuemaker to teach me?

Great start

Think you are headed in the right direction.
You have the love for the game and know what players want being one yourself.
If your friend is willing to help you and you invest some time in research , We at J&D are willing to help you all we can to get you going if you have questions.
Like to see more people into the game of pool whether it's playing , repairing cues , or welcoming a soon to be fellow cue guy into the mix.
Best of luck to you and hope you do get into it, Belgium seems to need you!
Thanx and good luck,

u actually made me blush :)

thats some nice words u said man. and about the help u are offering, its VERY Welcome :D first of all, im going to read the bluebook over and over as soon as it arives.

then ill probably re-read all the posts about wich video to get , and watch them over and over. PS where's the cuemaker section???? there was LOADS of info there :s now i cant find it anymore :'(

any problems, and u can expect some pm's :p i will need some help at one time or another for sure. but im only 28 :p ive got LOADS of years in front of me , a mount Everest of patiance, and im a perfectionist. in fact my love for nice woods started when during my architecture studies i always made houses in Balsa wood. i could spend 16H straight working on them and never being tired of it. just LOVE how u can swap some small pieces of flat wood into a very nice looking house model.

maybe ill even get me second hand lathe one day. anyway im just preparing things. its not like if im going to start tomorow. my adiction is so big, i just never can satisfy my apetite. im hoping to learn alot and make some beginner cue's, and maybe ill make it into a full time hobby when im retired.

id love to be the first belgium custom poolcue maker :p

im always open for 2d hand instructional books and video's about cuemaking.
if anyone has some doubles, well... u know where to send them to make someone happy.:o i cant afford to pay for them now, but like i said. im just preparing myself. ive got enough time.

J&D, maybe u can start to tell me wich books /video's i should have on top of my list. (ps im not into making a profit business. i just want to make them and give them to my friends. seeing a friend play with one of my cue's will give me WAY more satisfaction then to have a 200$ check. even if i could use the money :p dont worry :p i wont be any competition for any cuemaker.

ps do u know that in my country, i dont think ive EVER seen a custom cue? just makes me sad to see TOP players in my country play with longini's, meucci's, 5280 etc :s

ps2: i LOVE the cocobolo j/b cue u made and posted some pictures :D do u have a website where i can see more of your work?
