What was your most clutch shot?

This should bring some good stories. Give us the setup: who/when/where/etc of your most clutch shot during play.

I'll start it off. Mine was in my second year of playing pool. I was playing at the ACUI college northwest regionals at the University of Montana. They had a great room filled with old Gold Crowns, the ones with the ash trays in the corner pockets. I was mainly a shot maker 8ball player with not very much setup skills. Had only been playing 9ball a few months. After three hill-hill matches leading up to the match I found myself in the winners bracket semifinals against a player from Western Washington. This match went hill-hill again with his break in the final game coming up empty. I started making balls, getting further and further out of shape before getting this shot on the 9ball. There are 75 people around the table watching the match. I walked around the table about 10 times trying to decide on which way to shoot the shot. Eventually I looked at my teammates and said "Do or die", got down two stroked it and fired it in. They mobbed me after it fell and then I shook the opponents hand. Out of the 10000's of balls I have pocketed since that one stands out the most. Here is the shot I took. I got ran over in the finals 9-2 by the eventual winner but had a fun time regardless.

Clutch shotz for shots!

Hey Todd-Hope all is well with you down there..

I can't think of the "Most Clutch" shot I have ever made, but I pulled this one off in a major clutch situation friday night with my league team.
We were just playing for drinks and spending some cash we won as a team from the previous session on a night out. We drank for a few hours then gravitated towards the tables to play a few racks and rib each other a bit.
Well it turned into a all-out battle with drinks+shots on the line. On the last game, I was left with a shot on the 8 after my opponent left me pretty rough on the head rail. Banking across to pocket D wasnt an option becasue it was too much angle, wouldnt have gone. Banking end rail was blocked for the straight in bank, and head rail-end of the table had a close wall so I would have been jacked up a bit.

I used to hit these shots alot for fun at home, finally all that messing around payed off because I knew what I needed to do to make this one fall:

This shot, my friends, earned my and my buddy a very nice round!:)

That clutch lol Well I remeber when they used to run chalk talk tounament here in wisconson and I played a guy bye the name duncan kuffman a good player out of wisconson and I drew him the first round think I was going to get slaughter lol I bascaly ran the whole set out he only got maybe 3 or 4 shots in a race to 7.Well I was up I don't even remeber the score but I made 5 jump shots in a row in one rack and put him in the loseres bracket.he went for 180 I think in the calcutta and i only went for 40 bucks.

What a fun thread! A couple come to mind. The first one was back in the 2000 BCA Open Championships. (Might have been 2001, cant quite remember.) This was the shot to close it out on Tiffany Nelson. I remember looking up and seeing Johnny Archer in the stands watching this match so there was an immediate little added pressure. I made this and went on to win the match. I jacked up, drew it back with bottom outside. Alot of you may wonder why not top inside? I just felt more comfortable with the one I chose.

At the 2005 Amateur Nationals, it was a race to 11 in the finals, she is on the hill, and I am one off. It may not look all that tough, but I can tell you the pressure was immense. I cut it into the top left hole.

I came with this shot and got on the hill. I ended up winning the last game to win it all.

This is the best shot I've ever personally made - Corner hooked on the 9, masse'd the cue ball and made it in the corner to get on the hill. Just to put the icing on the cake I snapped the 9 on the next break to win the match.

Caveats -
1) I was up 4-0 in a race to 6 against a B- rated opponent, so not much to risk by going for it. (He wasn't going to be running 5 packs on me anytime soon!)
2) I had an easy 8 into the side so corner-hooking myself like that was an terrible position error and I deserved to scratch!

That only gave me a link to the table site, not an actual game situation. Might want to check that out again.

Highlight and copy the link language, click the link and when you get to the table click the paste button. Pretty snazzy way to do it...

At least someone undestood why I hyperlink the WEI code! It's a shame you can't add the WEI code to the link itself as POST data so it would be totally seamless, but that would require PHP, ASP or some other dynamic web server setup, plus Shockwave support for FORM data.

For those who can't be bother here's the shot:

I tried to do that but my computer wouldnt let me. That is how I view everyone else's table. I am glad it works for all of you though!

That is a really great shot! It's coming with those from time to time is what keeps us hooked!

Regards

EDIT....

Now I tried it a different way and I can copy it now.

This isn't a 'clutch' shot for me. I've only played around with jumping off the rails a little bit. I was just playing a friend for fun so I made this shot. Felt goooooood :p

Jumped off the rail over obstructing ball, pocketing one ball, shape on six ball.

Yeah I did the same shot last weekend during ACS league, don't remember how the heck I hooked myself but ended up doing the same shot. Ended up with perfect position for the runout too.

i was looking for some action the other day and decided to stop by the poolhall near my school. i challenged the local hot shot there for $50 sets of 9-ball. unfortunately, my friends were busy at school so i was all alone on this foreign poolhall with everybody ready to jump my ass if i did something wrong. the place was packed, about 60-70 people were watching, and most of them were sharking me on every shot.

i was on the hill at 8-7 when i pulled off this shot, the most creative shot i've ever made. i wanted to make the cue-ball travel all over the table, but i decided against it coz the table was slow and it might not reach the desired position. so i thought that hitting the point of the side pocket would be the best choice since i've been practicing the shot regularly. after making the shot, my opponent had trouble breathing and had to lie down for several minutes. :D :D :D

A guy made this against me and knocked me out of a 8ball tournament in Jacksonville NC. He stood there for what seemed like an hour. Then fired it in.

I can think of quite a few but i'll use this one. Team play, BCA championships in Vegas. I don't know the year, maybe 1999. We had a pretty fair team and advancing on the winners side. We played a team that 4 players (2)finished in the top 10 in singles and (2) in the top 20, with one guy (sorry don't remember his or the teams name) who won the singles event.

I'd already won all 4 of my matches and I'm playing the singles champion. We were ahead in the series so it wasn't like my game was a deciding match, but we needed it. Most of all I wanted to beat the guy! He breaks but doesn't ge out. I run off my balls except two. With out explaning details I just ended up in a bad place. I studied the situation and thought I could make the 5 but couldn't get the cue ball out of there. I decided to go for the big stroke and shoot the 3. The B line was my aim line for pocket C. I nailed and brought whitey back to pos A. This is the appx layout.

The crowd went nuts, LOL. I made the 5 of course but left whitey frozen to the 12. Near straight in but right over the 12. I figgured hell if I made that draw shot this is a peice of cake, and it was. We beat that team but finished in the top 20 or 30, how ever it breaks down. Been to Vegas three times and always played well.

I made this shot to run my first "century" in straight pool! It was in a money game, and I had just lost the first game 150 to -3, and the guy I was playing was playing me 70 no count. He was also my teacher which was cool. I have never been so nervous, everyone was watching since I passed 70, and I was about to passout!!.Looks like a simple shot I know, but throw in the circumstanses and the pocket looked like the ball wouldnt even fit in:)...Gerry

There is an easier way to make that shot and that is by aiming into the tit opposite the side you are hooked on with high right (or is it left, I forget). Aim the middle of the cueball at the tit and you should make the ball if it's frozen on the rail or slightly off. It's a fun shot to mess around with.

My most clutch shot was cueball near the middle of the bottom rail, 8 ball near the spot to rack the balls. Double hill, 6-6 racing to 7 to win the ACU-I Collegiate nationals in 1992.

That tournament, I lost my first match and went all the way through the losers bracket to win the championship double hill.

A guy safed me in a B-C tournament 3 years ago, leaving not much to do, nothing attractive. I knew I could just barely thin cut the bank on the 8, but the cueball would be flying around the table and how to miss the 9-ball on 5-rail position? It was a dead carom... a touch of draw taking after hitting the cushion did the trick!

The 8 slow-rolled into the pocket, got perfect shape on the 9, and I was dizzy trying to watch both shotmaking and position parts of the shot coming out perfect. Lost that set and placed 4th in the 48 player tournament overall, but it gave confidence and led to 3 more wins that year and on to A status.

But how did you get the image to post into the thread?
