I haven't purchased the revo shaft yet. I'm going to play with the 314 3 that it comes with for a couple months and see how I like that shaft first.
What would be the better purchase predator vs schon?

For me new McDermott cues play better than new Schon.
I owned 3 and played with at least 10 and they all play different. Old Schon play really good.
McDermott with i2 plays really good, we can hate it but its true.
I would rather buy Mezz or jacoby to get a good player if production cue is an option.

So how does predator fit in all this? I went with the ikon 3-5 with the 314 3 shaft, how will it play compared to my mcdermott G502 with a G core shaft?
Setting aside things that are just personal preference:
1. The butt doesn't matter.
2. Low deflection is better (if you're not "addicted to" high deflection).

get the REVO for your predator and youre done...never need another shaft or cue....Schons are what they are....and saying they are made by craftsmen is a laugh riot ...they are factory made just like a Predator but Predator is better with their customer service and the service center they have is very helpful plus the REVo warranty is 2nd to none

Craftsmen vs. Chinese? One is an occupation and the other is a nationality. How does that even compare? So if a Chinese guy works for Schon, he's a craftsman. But if he works for Predator, he's just Chinese?
I was thinking the same.
My current cue is an old early 90s Schon with three original shafts. I love the way this cue feels and plays with each shaft - but I have one that I prefer over the rest.
Before this I played with Predator shafts for maybe 15 years and enjoyed their products as well.
I happen to have a brand new SCHON as well, and I think it plays really good. It's nice to have a backup.
Just pick a cue that you love and put in the time to get used to it. What's important is that you like the way it feels. You'll figure out the "aim" and "deflection" through a lot of practice. That part is no big deal. Just practice all of your shots with different English at different speeds. No biggie.
