What Would Cause This?

ok, last night, i was working on some stroke exercises, and this is one Mark Wilson had me working on. Tom Rossman also recommended this one, as does Bob Byrne in his tape. its the age old drill of shooting the cue ball down the table, holding the tip, and getting the cue ball to come back up table and strike the tip.

anyway, i was using a regular cue ball, and kept missing to the right - as the green arrow indicates. i couldnt understand this. then, per Mark Wilson, i switched to the Elephant Ball, and got that cue ball to come back up and hit the tip, or close by it, very consistently. i was using the draw stroke when i was practicing this, and the chalk mark was pretty much right where it should have been.

just dont understand why i would have been so much better with the Elephant Ball as opposed to the regular cue ball? BTW, the cue ball was one of the Red Circle cue balls.

The elephant ball has marks on it that help you to find the exact center of the cue ball. A regular cue ball doesn't. If you haven't already, I suggest you get Joe Tucker's 3rd Eye Stroke trainer to help with this.
 
Are you left handed?

Sometimes I go off to the right as well... seems to be what ive done for years.. very hard to get rid of.
 
Flex must be fast on the draw because his post wasn't there when I started mine. Basically I think he is dead on the money with his suggestion.

The elephant ball has markings on it, making it much easier to find the center of the ball. The cueball is all white and it harder for you to find the center of the cuball. Its also easier to do this drill using a striped ball with the stripe parallel to the direction you are shooting. Looks like you are ligning up to put some right english on the cueball when you really think you are hitting it in the center. Have you tried this with Joe Tucker's stroke trainer and just the cueball?

Great idea...OR you eyes might be fooling your mind....have you had an eye exam lately?

Visual Dyslexia
