What would you do here?

I was faced with this last night in my 9-ball league. I totally botched it, but I'll let you know how later.

The 8 does pass in the side, if that helps.

CueTable Help

Bank it with reverse ( what i'd do ) to synch the cue ball coming off the rail.

Yowza, that's tough. I think I try the cross-bank illustrated below. If I miss, I'd like to leave the cue ball near the end rail and make my opponent shoot downtable and get back for the 9.

CueTable Help

Cross side that bank all day long. Almost a centre ball hit on the 8 ball...

Yeah, I went for the cross side but I was afraid of losing the cueball. I didn't think I'd be able to make it with reverse english, so I used right. I figured I'd be way out of position on the 9 unless I sent it around the world.

Anyway, to make a long story short I made a bad stroke and the CB curved just enough to miss the 8 completely...gave the guy ball in hand and that was that.

I'm going to have to practice this shot to get a feel for holding the CB for the 9.

I had contemplated feathering the eight to send the CB behind the 9, but I was worried that it would leave the 8 right in front of the side pocket which would mean disaster if I didn't get behind the 9.
