Whatever Happened to X Breaker N Richard Chan?

Richard

I will second that. Richard was one of the nicest and most scientific oriented people I ever come across in the business. I communicated with him pretty often, and he was always helpful, and customer oriented.

I ordered a X-Jumper from him for a friend of mine, and he gave me a discount on it, because it was me, and made the cue on a Thurs-Fri-Sat, and shipped it to me on a Monday. He also included, free of charge, an X-Breaker shirt, which is real neat BTW.

I shot with the X-Jumper, with its unique Ash shaft, 1/2" bowling ball ferrule, and the new X2 tip which contains liquid leather in it. It is, the best jump cue, I have ever tried, bar none. (tried about 8 or 9 brands of jump cues).

It has just 'slightly' less grip than a 100% leather tip, but gets over a ball even better than a straight phenolic tip. I felt he had truly made a better jump cue through scientific engineering. You can control and put english on the cue ball better than other jump cues, and the other jump cues with leather tips can not get over a ball near as good.

Richard achieved a higher degree of quality for lift and control than ANY other jump cue.

I miss Richard, and I sure hope things are well with him. I often wonder how he is surviving without being in the cue business, and how his health is. My prayers are with him.

He is truly a 'Gentleman of the Sport'.

You know, given the circumstances, this is hugely in poor taste!

Below is the body of the last email I received from Richard Chen, back in June of 2007:

Dear friends,

In late May, I was informed by my doctor that they have found a tumor in my liver. A surgery was performed in June to have this tumor removed. More tests and procedures will have to follow. Your prayers will be greatly appreciated.

It is no longer possible for me to build or market X Breaker due to my health. I really wish to spend as much time as I can with my new born daughter, my wife, and my families.

I want to send this email to thank you all for your support, understanding, and patience, over the years.

Regards,
Richard

From the gist of this email, it sounded as if his prognosis was not good. I hope I am wrong.
