I always thought GCs were the classic table. But I've never liked the built-in ball rack - I like the look of the other end of the table much better. So what's behind the rack on, say, a GC III? I ask in the hope the rack could be left off (of a table I buy) and whatever's behind could be finished to look like the other end.

Try to buy the extra apron
If you can, buy the extra apron for the Gold Crown. I have made them before out of maple glue ups like the originals and it is more work than its worth unless your doing multiples.
I think you will really like the look of the table without the ball box on it.
