All names to elicit fear in the minds of their opponents.

Is it mear coincidence that the players with these names are all top players?
Or does thier name give them a little edge?

I think there's an option you aren't recognizing, and it's the answer to your question: they get the nicknames because they're top players.

The only time a nickname might cause an opponent to worry is if you have a really dangerous nickname and they don't know you. If a road player comes into your hall and someone says "I think they call him the Shortstop Killer" then you will probably be put off.

But hearing that someone you already KNOW can kick your @ss is called something like "The Black Widow" means nothing to you.

If your game is at a level that you are intimidated by a nickname, you probably don't have any chance of winning.

"Opponent" is the only name I recognize when matching up.
