Not a Joss.

The logo on cue #7 is present on only about 1000 cues total. Of that group, this is the only box cue I have ever seen. You collectors have seen the name and the distinct logo, but not often.

The other acceptable company name for #7 could be credited with having made more cues than almost any other...maybe even more than Joss.

Not Dick Neighbors. I did play with one of his cues once when battling out a set against hylanduh. Good balance in that cue. Neighbors knows a thing or two:wink:

Oh so close...guycrunch posted 3 minutes before you with the same correct answer.

Bob Wier made #7 with the "flying W" logo. He was importing the cues from Adam of Japan...founded by Helmstetter. I gotta send you something for that!
 
OK last hint of the night:

The cuemaker of cues 4 and 17 is a former road player who is truly one of the most talented players I have ever seen on a table.

Max Eberly, as you may know, won 3rd place in the World Straight Pool championship. He credits this cuemaker (then his mentor instructor) as being an "amazing talent" and "one of the best pool players of all time" in his book, Zen Pool. Page 1 of the acknowledgments!

So ask Max about his Ohio teacher or better yet, buy a copy of Zen Pool. You'll have the answer to the toughest ID in this challenge.

Guy has 2nd place wrapped up, and Jamie will win 3rd...but the winner is the first to post a COMPLETE LIST. Just quote my original post and delete everything but the list of cuemaker names. Then fill in the last two blanks!

A closer look at #4. The cuemaker persuaded me to try cored Narra Burl. The cue follows the theme of the antique Brunswick "Kling" table. This cuemaker really captured the theme, with ringwork and inlays to match the original Brunswick design. I attached a catalog page to show some of the detailing. After the butt cap, all white is ivory. Notice the wood grain in the butt sleeve, it continues uninterupted through the window and ringwork. The frame and rectangle are sharp inlays, not windows that were fully constructed outside the cue then inlayed. Same with the rings. Each square was inlayed. This cuemaker really cares about craft...lots of handwork here.
