I'd have to say the non-smoking room at Gate City Billiards, hands down. In that quiet room is 3 GCIV's. Just off I40 by Wendover Ave. Breakers has nice GC's and Diamonds, but it's smokey. Jakes has Medalists that are decent, and it's non-smoking. It's a younger crowd there and gets pretty busy most nights. Good food there. I hadn't been to Shooters lately and don't know if they're smoking or non. Tailgators on Battleground has @ 7 GCIII's, some shimmed, and is non-smoking. It's fine enough there, although IMO lacks a true pool hall atmosphere. Coliseum Billiards is in a pretty rough section of town. Lucky's has mostly BB's if you like them, and a couple 9's. Those are all the 9 footers in town I'm aware of.

http://www.gatecitybilliardsclub.com/ They do a wednes night handicapped 9B event that typically draws @ 30 or so. And a scotch dubs 8B winners/9B losers side on Friday nights. Should be spelled out at their website.

Shooter's is non-smoking. They have 10 7' Diamonds, all league cut, & 7 9' tables, 3 AMF single shimmed, 1 older pro cut Diamond, & 3 newer Diamonds (1 single shimmed, 1 double shimmed, & 1 triple shimmed).

As far as tournaments, the only ones I know of outside of Gate City's are the Tuesday @ Breakers and the Sunday short-race @ Jake's.

I may be in town for few months working night shift on a Sams Club I believe... not sure when I'll have a chance to come in and practice if we're commuting each day. Just trying to scout ahead :D
