I didn't create a poll since there may be options I'm not aware of. So here are my thoughts. Feel free to add as you see fit.
1. I think my favorite format is the SBE best 2 of 3 in races to 5. Short races gives the underdog a shot. But he needs to beat the odds twice. Kind of like a tennis match format to me.
2. I think the most common is the race to whatever (normally 9) and then an extended race in the finals to say 13. I like this a little better than the true double elimination where the winner of the losers bracket needs to beat opponent race to 9 twice. Adds a little excitement to the finals in my opinion.
3. True double elimination. Probably the most fair for the winner of the hot seat.
4. The tournament of champions. My least favorite. I don't like the race to 5 with the sudden death one game. It's too easy for pros to split the races to 5. And for that kind of dough, it shouldn't come down to 1 game to determine the winner.
5. DCC/Southern Classic with buybacks. I do like this because you can't just get stuck in a tough bracket. It's re-draw every round. I like that as well.
