i'm going to have to respectfully disagree with this evaluation. The Mosconi Cup is a unique event that has some pressures most pool players never experience... namely playing for your country and playing as part of a team. Johnny and Earl have the best experience with dealing with these factors... and especially Johnny at the US Open this year has demonstrated he still has what it takes to beat anyone. Johnny and Earl touring together has built a new comraderie between them and I think you will be surprised by the level of play they bring this year. It was only a few years ago that Earl was voted Mosconi Cup MVP. Neither of them are the best players on the team right now, but describing them as weak links is a bit of a stretch to me.
I think that Rodney Morris and SVB are probably equals and they have some great team experience at the World Cup this year. All in all, I'm looknig forward to the Mosconi Cup this year, I think it will be a great event.
