whats the most weight you have ever given up ?

Sometimes I think the worst match up I ever had was playing even in a ring game with three road players. All showed up to a Starcade tournament and I was bored enough to get into a cheap game. Playing even with them was like spotting everyone else in town the five. Somehow I ended up about twenety bucks and three beers ahead after paying time,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,wow, now I know who wins ,,,,,,,,,,,,the house always.

i dropped 40 pounds in 5 months.
it made my game better too.

When i lived in NY i gave some girl that came in looking for some action the 5 and out for 20 a game she lost 100. And then i played her man the same game and he lost 200. So I got the word that they were on the road trying to get some 1 hole action (sorry didn't play that at the time) But that is my story.. ..

Andy,

How do you spot someone 75, and win 100-74? Is there a way to lose points in 14:1?

thx,
jer9ball

Hi jer,

Mike Sigel used to take one or two intentional scratches (loss of 1 point each) at the start of a 14.1 game against a weaker opponent. His thoughts were "The rest of the field can have a high run of 150. I can run the 151 or 152 and have the high run!" It was that important to him.

scratch......

andy is also rather modest, and EXTREMELY focused. he has had to play 14.1 league games, where he's had to do ridiculous things like score 9x points while holding his opponent to something like <10 pts.

here's one that never materialized.....

sansouci offered this spot to a "B",,,,,,the B wins if he can hit the OB to the back rail. ie,,,,,whatever the B runs, he can only win if he hits whatever the next OB might be to the back rail. say the B pockets the 1,2, and 3. all he has to do is hit the 4 to the back rail. or 1,2 and win with the 3,,, or 1,2,3,4,5 and hit the 6 to the back rail etc etc,,,,it's whatever OB the B chooses.

the B can bank the winning OB to the back rail. obviously, combinations can't be done......you cannot combo a 4 into the 6 and make the 6 hit the back rail becasue the NEXT OB is the 4, not the 6. i don't know about caroms.

I also spotted some girl the 6-out, race to 7, loser pays for dinner. I lost on purpose, got a date out of it, and now we have been married for 7 years. The only question I have now is "who was hustling who???"

Andy

dude,,,that's the ultimate hustle because you STILL don't know to this day.

I once spotted a guy 125 balls in a 200 point game
of straight pool for a decent sum of cash. I ended
up making a huge comeback to win 200-64, I got my
high run in that game too.
In 9 ball I've given 6 games on 11 and broke even.
I've seen Ginky give the 3 and out to B players
and win every time.

Have you heard about the weight Alex Pagulayan was giving in Hawaii ? Straight pool, race to 100. If Alex has a break of less than a 100, it counts as 0. So if Alex wants to win, he has to run the 100 in a one inning. So far the story goes that Alex won each set...

not surprising,,,,100 no count. alex plays snooker, and i don't think anyone in hawai'i knows what 14.1 is. except maybe hawaiian brian:):):)

alex also played schmidt for big big dough. i hope players are starting to see the relevance of 14.1 as a pure test of skill,,,,even if it IS only for gambling

I've played a few pro players straight up. I figure that's a huge spot, considering my game. So far it hasn't paid off very well. :)

Giving up a big spot while trolling for lambs, isn't very impressive.

APA is full of bums, so quoting your APA ranking is meaningless. :) Show me your win/loss record against real players, not wednesday night warriors.

Bring it on, chumps! Bring those ridiculous spots north of the border! LOL

cheers,
jer9ball

Agreed, APA ratings are meaningless. If you have a high rating you basically are the best...........of the WEAK APA players. APA is a great FUN league, not so competitive though.

Jer9ball, how about you bring your Pechauer down to the Big Apple and we'll show down. Let's get it on!!!!

Never given up weight, but the most I have been given (in 9-ball) was the last 7 with break/ ball in hand!!
