From the options listed, what configuration do you like the best and why? (Please Vote)

Thanks!

Play cue,
Break Cue,
Jump Cue.

Although one could argue that the jump cue is only 2/3rds of a cue, I still had to vote 3*3.

3x5 or 3x6

Playing cue + 2-3 shafts.
Break/Jump + 2 shafts.

On those rare occasions when I need to (friend, date, whatever), I bring another cue + 1 shaft.

Honestly, I think extra shafts for break/jump cues might be a little too much. Maybe others have different experiences but I've never had to reach for a second shaft for breaking or jumping. In fact, I usually end-up getting a new break cue before I get a new tip.

I'm only concerned about my shooting cue because if something happens to it (and I've had everything happen), I want an available back-up and not having one could spell disaster in competition.

With that said, the best configuration is a personal preference thing. I already have a few cases but plan on getting a smaller Whitten and a larger Whitten in the near future. The smaller one will be a 1x2 for days I'm playing 14.1 and the larger one will be for days I want to carry an extra cue for my wife or a friend (likely a 3x4 or 3x5).

3x5 or 6

Playing Cue, with backup shaft.
Break Cue and Shaft
Jump Shaft, (handle in the little pouch thing)
Loaner Cue (very important)

I like my 3x6 because the empty shaft slot is like a marker to know what is where.

One is phenolic (which I only use for jumping which is rare - I'd rather kick) the other is a Samsara. Twice now though I've lost a break tip though so the phenolic serves as a backup.

Yeah, I quit with phenolic a couple years ago. Maybe I'm old-fashion but I never got used to the sound and I found myself miscuing for a good stretch. I simply lost any faith in them even though everyone around me breaks fine with them (including my wife). I've been using Samsara ever since.

With that said, yeah, I've had tips fly off but that hasn't happened in years. I don't know if tip technology can account for that or if I'm just going to better people to retip my cues. I'm still breaking 20-25mph all the time.

2X4 works best for me, I have a few different ones, some set up with playing cue with 2 shafts and break/jump cue with 2 shafts, or playing cue with 2 shafts, break cue with 1 shaft and jump cue with one shaft, only 2 of my 2X4 cases have the long pocket for the jump handle to fit in.

I voted 2X4 then when I saw the results so far I was very suprised, it's good to know other players carry more gear around with them than I do.:grin-square:

3x4

Does anyone carry a 3x4? (Personal Player w/ 2 shafts, break cue, & loaner w/ 1 shaft.) I imagine this would have to be a custom set up. Any pictures?

(What do you think about this design?)

2x4 for me too. I honestly could get by with a 1x2. If I go to a bar where people casually bring their own cue, that's what I bring.

I kinda like bar table playing with just my playing cue in a 1x1 soft case and breaking with house cues. Just reminds me of playing in my teens and somehow brings me back to earth a little. It's easy to get caught up in the "equipment" battle.

Best case I've ever bought by far has been a cheap j&j case that I picked up for $40 in Vegas during league nationals. It's a 2x3 case with a long pocket that also holds the ass end of a jump cue in a side zipper which makes it more like a 3x3. The case is so compact that it looks more like a 1x2. I got it like three years ago and it still looks brand new. I love it.

I gave my super heavy predator blak 3x6 case to my dad after buying this cheap little gem...
