Whats The Right Shot?

Colin Colenso said:
That was ridiculous in the movie!

Background: He took the other guys shot and just set it up for himself, and then played again, insisting that it was now his turn to shoot.

As if anyone would accept that that comment as meaning that. Only an idiot would have accepted that. The other guys should have beaten him up for such a stupid and dishonest attampt to con, and taken his money for trying to cheat on a reasonable bet.

I agree it was a stupid ending.

I actually liked the movie until that last scene...When I saw that ending it actually pissed me off that they would insult the viewing audience into thinking that someone would fall for and then actually pay on a stupid con...

It even ruined the guys reputation...They made him out to be the good kid with lots of skill that got screwed out of his shot at the pro tour but ended up doing the right thing anyway........ Then they have him pull this stupid move...."what a joke"...

I felt the ending followed suit with the rest of the film. He tried to fight (not very hard) his huslter ways, but faced the fact that's how he won; the 1-handed 8, "where you got your shoes", the friend's drinking bet. It was consistent with the theme of proposition bets and word trickery. I'm not saying that in a real poolhall there wouldn't have been a shooting, but hey, it's a movie, and an indie one at that.

As for the shot in question, I'd have gone for something along these lines, kicking off the end rail:

I would shoot the shot that Colin first diagrammed except I would not have shot it as hard. I would have tried to leave the cb below the ob more so that the opponent would have had a more difficult bank. You need a lot of spin and a very soft stroke.
