This situation was pretty unique. I was playing in a VNEA 8-ball tournament. Playing on 7' coin-ops. My opponent's break. He breaks the rack from the right side and the 8ball shoots straight into the corner where he's standing. He instinctively reaches into the pocket to grab the 8, and as he does, another ball (3) hits his wrist and rebounds back onto the playing surface contacting another ball. He has the 8 in his hand, looks at me and says "what do we do with the 3?". "I dunno, let's get a ref" I say. The ref comes over, and we explain what happened. The ref says "foul, ball in hand anywhere on the table". My opponent was beside himself. I ran out the rack, and ended up winning the match. All my opponent could talk about for a week was how I screwed him out of that game.
Was that the correct ruling?
