Whats up with my game?

Jimbojim... I'll be arriving Saturday morning at the Provincials.. just come up and introduce yourself. I'm also playing in the B class and womens open.

I can see it now, 85 people walk up to Christine saying, "Hi, I'm Jimbo Jim " :)

You might want to come up with a secret handshake or something :) Good luck to both of you. Being from Ontario, I'm not allowed to play.

lol.. good one Snorks. :) Too bad you can't play.. maybe you should consider a road trip and come watch. :p

You've already been given some good suggestions, but the first thing that popped out at me in your original post was "when I bare down to play a normal game". You may be thinking too much about the changes you've made and trying too hard to make them happen for you. I think somebody already said you should let the changes become natural for you before any serious competition. How much do you normally think about this kind of stuff when you are playing? It will work out in the end!

I would find someone (friend) that you feel comfortable shooting with yet challenging for you to shot against, find a neutral table and get a couple good hours of fun practice in. Shooting by yourself alot can sometimes put you in a mysterious slump. Finding a buddy to just shoot your natural style of game with can shake the slump and see if the changes you made come natural yet or still having you thinking/slowing down too much. The point is to shot as you normally do, not to ponder your changes, just see if the games comes back to you naturally. I would try this before your tourny, good luck and have fun with it.

Oh I have an idea, why not ask for help locally?

Easy one there Chris, buy Pleasure of Small Motions. That will do.

Then call me.

I really think thats it... I know I think too much about those things when I'm playing in tournaments.. but I don't know how to stop.. I try to "let go" and play like I know I can when I'm not worried about anything, but its so hard sometimes to be able to do that.

I already own that book, and the Inner Game of Tennis, and a few others...

I could look for help locally, although we both know you are one of the only few around that could help.. and I hate taking you away from your new twin babies...
Forgot to mention.. it was actually PoolSponge that corrected my stance.. I was shooting with both legs bent and had poor balance.

That must be it... now that I have my own table.. I'm used to playing bare in the privacy of my own home and can't play in poolrooms with clothes on!!! ha ha .. lol.. :p
ok seriously now.. :) I didn't play THAT bad at the last tournament, I just wasn't happy with the results.... but yes I would love the honest feedback.. good or bad.. anything to help me get out of this rut and improve my game!
We don't really have any qualified instructors near me. I could ask some of my friends to help me out or wait until the Provincials in two weeks and see if I can get some time with Alain Martel or Luc Salvas?

If you would just send me a video of you playing ... in the privacy of your own home I'd be more than happy to analyze... your stroke.

I'll be watching for that! :)

I can only picture a Mad Magazine skit with a whole pool room of dudes making a fool of themselves, with the non participants thinking they are trying to imitate a Michael Jackson walk. :D

I know Jigs very well.. Great girl and very easy on the eyes. the one day she was bent very far over the table and then looks back and says, see, I think I drop my elbow. The guy sitting beside me chirps up... he wasn't looking at your elbow!

Then there is the time that I met her Mom.. but that will be another story for another time :)

All the best Jigs! Actually Jigs is one of the main reasons that I took up pool... she kept kicking my ass and I said that no way would I let that happen. A few years later, she still kicks my ass :) I'll get her next time!
