What's wrong with the butt of my stick?

When I tap it against the floor, the bottom makes a noise like it's hollow or something? Also, how does one know when it's time to replace the butt of a stick? Thanks!

Seriously, what kind of cue do you own. It might be a loose weight bolt.

Probably weight bolt, as others said. I try to never tap my cue butt on the floor, when I do it is not on purpose.

Mine currently has a loose bumper screw. You might check that. It's hard to tell where the noise is coming from because it resonates through the cue. I that I had messed up my joint at first...
