Just curious what everyone else is playing with? Which shaft do you prefer and why?

Maybe I'm missing the question. I use whatever shaft came with the cue. Other than buying Predator shafts, do people normally swap shafts around on cues?

Kind of curious myself now. Am I missing out on something?

There are alot of options these days. People swap quite often. Im just curious to find out what everyones preferance is.
 
I buy cues that are known for a good hit. Use the shaft that the cuemaker uses in a dia that I like.

Otherwise why buy a shaft with a cue? Why not just buy a butt and get a after market shaft for the cue.

What I don't get is people asking about how a cue hits when they are planning on putting on a predator shaft.

Exactly! The predator shaft will make a big difference in the way the cue will hit.

I am also curious which predator shaft is the most popular. There has been such a big deal made about the Z shaft, but I dont see many people plalying with one.
 
I had a Predator shaft for a while and just didn't like it as well as the shafts that came with the cue. Currently I have a Jacoby and I use the shafts that came with it.
 
I currently shoot w/ two cues...a budweiser cue purchased at Wally-world w/ a shon shaft and a Bludworth Custom w/ a Danny Tibbots shaft...The only reason I had the shaft made was the origional snapped like a twig.............
 
I believe that my cue maker would quit talking to me if I used another shaft,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,btw, Barry makes a great hitting cue
 
Original custom shaft

I always use the cue makers shaft that comes with the cue. Its been done since the 2 piece cue was invented. You never saw any of the legends using a predator. Laffin.

I've always used whatever shafts came with the cue. I never found any need for aftermarket shafts. Some people like them I guess, but I grew up playing squirt, so personally, an aftermarket shaft just serves no purpose for me.

predator....

i love my predator shafts.........
i have used the same shaft for 4 years now.
i have changed the butts probably 100 times.
every cue hit different. the butt was the only difference in the equation.
i think the butt has alot to do with the hit.
by the way...my searing hit the best......

i will admit top custom shafts feel awesome and 10x better than predators....but I go with PLAYABILITY. less deflection, more power, more english, more consistent.

i think i sacrifice a little to get alot.

PS- by the way, dont tell dennis searing i use predators on his cues.....he wont make me another if you do..........LOL
 
I am just using the shaft that came with my Espiritu, and i like it. Snapped the first shaft, last week Tuesday - july 5 and dont ask why. And got a new one on Thursday, and like both, but the new one will take a bit to get usta, because i had sanded the shaft a couple times on a shaft spinner to get the small dings out, so it was a bit smaller than brandnew.

But over all, i have no problem with that shaft.

I know Sarah Rousey really likes her Predator Z shaft.

And i have played with a predator and it played really nice, but i wouldnt buy a new custom cue and have a predator shaft put on it. IMO

I think its funny the amount of people who use the Predator shaft and cant use it to its potential for example the bar player that shoots an hour a week on a crappy table.
Right now I shoot with a Judd, he has an awesome shaft taper.
