Whats your playing rhythm?

For me it depends how I'm feeling. If I'm outside my comfort zone in any way (playing in an unfamiliar format, or on equipment that's tougher than I'm used to, or against competition tougher than I'm used to, or for more money than I'm used to), then I can only play well if I play quite slowly, taking the time to settle myself and regroup between each shot. In my comfort zone, however, once I've gotten a ways into the session, and have made a good run or two, my optimal tempo becomes faster, and I play my best by only taking the time necessary to make sure my planned pattern or route is still the right one, identify the point of aim, get down, 2 practice strokes, and shoot. It's a tempo similar to Efren's; not wasting much time, but not at all hurried like the fast players mentioned in this thread.

Thanks Crawfish

My dear man, there are 100 break and runout players within a 75 mile radius of me, right now. The Carolinas are a fu#$ing breeding ground for players. Makes me sick. Although I will never be "Little Tony" or Keith McCready, I know my niche. And yes, I do play that fast. If you ever walk in and see me running around the table, bet on me. Playing slow, offer me a hotdog after I pay my time. If you're ever around here, I'll be glad to show you around and introduce you to everyone.

Thanks Crawfish...thats mighty decent of you. Hopefully I can make it down that way sometime. I'm not coming till I can call myself a solid B player though. I dont want to be heading home on foot without a shirt on my back. :D

I play better at a slightly faster pace. When I slow down and try to be more deliberate I catch myself guiding the cue ball and that's not good. Loose and smooth is the best for me......

What you need to do is: Play the game at the speed you feel the most comfortable. Don't try to be someone else.
