Gandy succumbed to two different floods, first the flooding of the Ocmulgee River in 1994 that left it's manufacturing plant under 5 feet of water, and afterwards the flood of cheap pool tables from China that devastated much of the pool table industry.
American Heirloom was founded in 2000 by managers and employees of Gandy Pool Tables.

I've never been a big fan of Gandy. They were alright tables but seem to always be a pain to move. The rail bolts go in real rough. And there always seems to be alteast 1 stripped one in there. And the slate just feels weird to me. Almost wrinkled.
I worked on a Gandy today where we thought we were going to have to grind a bolt down to get the cap off. And 1 of the peices of slate was I think 15/1000ths of an inch off on 1 side. Perfectly level in the middle. And 10/1000ths of an inch off on the other. It was basically a U. High on both sides and low in the middle.
