When did the red measles start coming in duramith?

TY..same here... never noticed the difference, either. Even between a valley purple Bar Box ball(duramith) and the green logo aramith bar box ball.. I do have a 50-year-old set of Gold Crown pocket balls, which are made with phenolic resin.. probably by Hyatt in the USA. I believe they were the precursors to the crown standards made by aramith. The Brunswick crown pool balls come with a blue dot cue ball, which is lighter than the set.. you can get a lot of Zing out of that cue ball, but I use the measles ball with that set, and they play great. Gianni
You know Hyatt made the Centennials til they got outbid by Saluc/Aramith. Need to look at the Dynasphere line too. The Bronze set for less than 150bux is a steal.

Yes! I bought a set of the Dynasphere silvers from West State Billiards for 130 bucks via amazon a couple of months back. I love the colors and they play great! They play very elastic like my set of Cyclops Ladon balls.. a lot of action. I believe they are made from the same material and from the same company (Cyclop) just a different brand name (rebranded as dynaspheres). I don't use the Ladon because they are basically unused. I don't know why dynospheres aren't being used in tournaments. Probably because aramith has the lock on the branding, sponsorship (simonis product) and the promotion of their product.. I know that Cyclop was the official ball of Diamond Billiards a few years back. I guess it all comes down to money just like CSI and predator, APA and diamond bar box. I remember playing downstairs in the basement at Hollywood Billiards 30 years back with mixed sets of both new and old Centennial Dart balls. We did the best we could back then... all the action tables were getting simonis 860, and the rest of us had to play on heavy nap Forstmann or Mali cloth..LOL Gianni
