When is it clear that USPS lost my package?

This is a little early, and this is my first time with a package from any carrier not being on time, but I am sure some of you have been chewing your finger nails off looking for answers in the past similar to this.

I have 3 shafts that were shipped overnight express from Minnesota 10/11, scheduled for delivery by noon 10/12. Last tracking update says package at arrived USPS origin facility in St Paul 10/12 4:00AM. Tracking still says scheduled delivery of 10/12 by noon....

I wasn't sweating it yesterday because I have seen in the past where tracking doesn't update to having arrived in the delivery state until its on the final truck for delivery, but now that 24 hours has gone by I am starting to question it all.

This is a strange week with mail delivery with the Jewish holiday and all. I would wait till tmrw or even Saturday. I have had it that things weren't updated till after the weekend. But I would be at the post office Saturday morning if I were you to see what's going on. Good luck.

What time did was it mailed out on the 11th?

I know if it's past noon where I live as I ship from a more remote MN address, overnight USPS can be pushed back as pickup as already happened by 10 am for overnight shipments. Another sweep for the rest of the packages is done at 4 I believe where I live.

From my experience with USPS if the package hasn't got to St.Paul by 8 pm that night, it will be pushed back another day.

This information makes sense and must mean it flew/drove overnight from St Paul starting last night and will hopefully be delivering today. I don't see why they can't update tracking saying departed from st paul. That's all I would need for piece of mind, despite the package being late.

I believe the schedules are approximate with no guarantee. I have mailed 2day priority that took a week. Be patient you'll
get them but USPS is not precise. Tracking and claims are a disgrace if something does get lost.

It happens all the time to me. Not a lot of major hubs In MN so it travels ground to Duluth or St.Paul then air to a destination. Where was it shipped from in MN and where is where is it going?

Shipped from Minneapolis headed to Alabama

Must have missed the cut off time then. For peace of mind, I have never had a package lost via USPS priority or overnight ever from the Minneapolis/St.Paul area. Seems like USPS has there sh*t together in that area. Hope it shows up today for you.

For regular mail USPS I'm told it's 30 days. You might try and call the last place it was scanned, sometimes you can actually get a person to find it, I mean actually put hands on it. If you do call, be sure to write down every phone number you get and where it's to.
every now and then someone will give a number directly to a mail handler or an office inside of warehouse or somewhere that you shouldn't have. especially valuable is a phone number for US Postal Service Consumer Affairs, these are people that can track down your mail until someone puts their hands on it and directs it to the right place.
I ordered a cue from China a while back. It made it as far as New York and didn't move after that. I called until I actually spoke to a truck driver that had it on his truck for several days. I described what the package should look like (about 30" long, possibly a tube about 3" X 3" from China). He says, "Oh yea, I've got something like that right here"
Apparently the label had fallen off. I get a call a little later from the postal inspector in NY,
I describe the package, where it's from and what's in it, he opens it and sure enough.
He sent it on and I had it a couple of days later.
They can be helpful if you get talk to the right person

This is terrible. Next time pay double or triple using FedEx or ups and you won't have this problem. I can't imagine with the tens of millions of packages mailed 6 days a week why they can't get one simple package right.

My last cue shipped USPS was 2 days past ETA and said it was still at local terminal when I received it.

On the back of your copy of the Express label.....
You have to wait 7 days to do a claim for loss....it's in the lower right under "Indemnity Claims"
But, I would wait and see if it arrives damaged first. Then you would want to get a refund for it being late and also a claim for damage.
