When to get laser surgery - revisited

If you are older, say in your 40s, I would recommend delaying laser vision surgery IF your parents have a history of cataracts.

The reason is that it is easier to predict what size and strength your replacement lens would be for cataract surgery. This is especially true if they had to chop a lot of your eye off in the first surgery.

In Nov 2009 I had cataract surgery after having lasik 10 years earlier. I had 20/40 vision due to astigmatism after surgery for 3-4 months. Yesterday I was able to get touch up laser surgery and this morning I was better than 20/20 - could read some of the 20/15 letters on the chart. My doctor did the touch up laser surgery FREE - for all of his patients.

This morning I had a Steve Martin smile across my face as I could see like an eagle again. Right eye next.

Cataracts btw creep up on you. At first I thought I had dry eyes, but after talking to a friend of mine at the pool hall who has cataracts, I got checked out.
