When will pool get its own tv chanell??

????????

You gotta start somewhere. What about a a regular billiards program on any channel. I don't think there has been one since Minn. Fats had Celebrity Billiards an thats been a long time ago. I hate to say it but it looks like it will be awhile longer.

I just find it hard to believe that there are more quilt makers than pool players..and there is a channel just for quilt making.. I think their is a market..just needs to be put out there.

When someone figures out a way to show sponsors they can make money by advertising on a pool channel.

Money is the key to everything.

thanks

Billiards Industry Fast Facts

According to the 2008 USA Sports Participation Survey – Billiards, conducted by the Sporting Goods Manufacturers Association (SGMA),:

*
There are 51,089,000 billiards participants in the World.
*
There are 20,294,000 core (13+/year) billiards participants in the U.S.
*
63% of all billiards participants are male and 66% of core (13+/year) billiards participants are male.
*
68% of all billiards participants are 25 years old and up; 65% of core (13+/year) billiards participants are 25 years old and up.
*
58% of all billiards participants have a household income of less than $75,000 per year.
*
42% of all billiards participants reside in a market size of 2,000,000+.
*
32% of all billiards participants have a college degree or higher.
*
56% of all billiards participants also participated in bowling, 34% in darts and 23% in golf.

The SGMA survey results also highlight: total billiards participation (participation at least once per year); billiards participation rate (participation at least once or more per year); profile details of all billiards participants (male and female); billiards participation by region; and billiards cross participation in other activities

___________ end quote

These folks could become a big group for advertisers to look at. The 20,294,000 core (13+/year) billiards participants in the U.S. could buy a lot of stuff from different companies. Instead of just beer signs in Pool Rooms, there could be a whole range of merchandise being advertised.

We can do far greater things as a unit than we can as a single entity.

I'm curios to the method used to come up with these numbers?

My idea for a channel that would be feazible is backed up by this stat;

56% of all billiards participants also participated in bowling, 34% in darts and 23% in golf.

My idea,

Have a channel and market it as a guy's channel .... maybe "Pub Games Central" or something along those lines...

It would only cover billiards (both snooker and 8-9-10ball etc), darts, and bowling as the main content. Lots of beer advertisements and industry advertisers (Predator, Diamond, etc.)... I suppose you could put some cards (hold-em etc.) in there, but not as the major thing.

It is totally doable with the way the internet is/will be taking over the way we receive our content.

That's the only way I see it working for a large scale audience.

Later, Chris
