When you go to another APA franchise?

We moved about ten minutes north of where we were and found out we were in a different APA franchise. We wrote down the apa numbers from our previous franchise and showed them our APA cards, so it is not like we did not provide the appropriate information.

Tonight when we went to league, they had put me down as a different sl. Is that typical? I thought that if you were a certain sl, then it transfers over.

Anybody else had that kind of experience?

You are in Frederick, right? I thought all of that area of Md was Terry Justice's franchise. Did you move to or from Terry's area? I would talk to who ever owned the franchise, as oposed to an office worker, IMHO.

Did the paperwork have your original number?

I think the theory is correct, but in point of fact it doesn't neccessarily work that way. I know when I transfered from one part of MA to another my numbers changed (for the better I might add). I'll soon be moving again to NH, I'm just hoping I even find a team I'm not worried about handicaps. Since I'll be away from my home and family for the weekdays if I don't find a league I'll go bonkers.
If you only moved 10 minutes north I don't even understand why you changed teams. Even if you moved into another franchise you can still play in the other, it's where you play not where you live that matters.

My new team was looking for an sl7 and an sl3, which my husband and I fulfilled what they were looking for. They have another sl3 but wanted two. We did put down our sl on the paperwork, but when I came back in last night, they listed me as sl4. It is not that i mind being an sl4 because I have played them before and beaten some of them. The way I see it, if I now have to be a sl4, it just means that I would have to work a bit harder to become better at pool. It would not be that great for the team, however, because that would give them 3 sl4s.

yes, this is in frederick. We moved from Lee Tiani's franchise in rockville md into the frederick one, so we have never been in the frederick franchise before.

I guess we will know next week, hopefully. We are not sure if they somehow mixed me up with someone else or if they bumped me because of the 4s and 5 I beat the last session I played.

Confused in Frederick.

Actually, when we were in rockville, I think the strength of the league seemed to be middle, meaning that you did not have 4s that played like 5s, or 4s, that played like 3s, but 4s that played like 4s. However, in Rockville/germantown, there were a number of very strong 3's who seemed that they would go 4 in another session, if not sooner. We had heard the frederick league was stronger, so we were hoping I would be playing stronger 3s and 4s, and my husband stronger 7s. Also, it is so close, we can get to the poolhall in 5 minutes, and it is on 9 foots.

In our old league, they had an 8ft league about 15 or so minutes away but the tables, about 2/3 of them were badly balanced. Rockville, which is where we would have had to go to play league in that same franchise, which had the better 9 foots, was now about a 45 minute drive.

Sounds like you are now playing in Terry's franchise, which is where I play. It is the only APA franchise that I have played in, so I am probably no help to you. I do know that "new" players play their first match as a SL 4 for guys and SL 3 for girls. Depending on the win/loss of the first match you will either be bumped up or down, or remain the same. If you are new it may take a few weeks to get your actual SL. Because you were a new player to this area and you were a 3 in your old area they may have just gotten confussed and thought you were playing as a 3 because you were a "new" female. If you palyed a higher rated player, won, played safe, or had low innings this may have contributed to your new SL, because they did not have your history to go on from Rockville, IMO. If you are truely a 3 it should go back after a match or two, but I hope this all gets worked out sooner than that for you.

That was another confusion. i did not play last week because the other three played. So i also assumed that if they considered me a new female, then they would have put me down as an sl3. Then when I came in this week as a sl4, we decided for me not to play again until we could talk to Terry. It did seem to me that this league is a bit weaker than the one I came from, however. I think in Lee's league, i was one of the better 3's, so also wonder if the two LOs got together looking at my best 10 out of last 20 matches and so forth. But next week, guess we will know next week and whether I am a sl3 or 4, will just have to play to win.:p
