Not lucky....and not mine (anymore).

I found the base cue in southern VA quite awhile ago, and had Tony do a complete make-over on it. The cue used to be a plain 6-pointer with a steel joint and 1 small shaft.

He added the ivory joint, all the inlays, a new lizard wrap, and so on and so forth. There was a full writeup on the cue (to include my story behind finding it, pics of me and my son at the shop, and so on) in a Black Boar news letter...so me and this cue have a TON of history.

I let it go (that was a sad, dark day), but never heard where it ultimately wound up. I'm just DYING to know where it went.
 
Oh, I get the post now, sorry for your loss.... Must have been in a desparate situation to let it go.

Indeed, it was. Ended up for the best...at least at the time. I've regretted that sale every waking moment since then.
 
Hey, keep your chin up, I'm sure another great cue will come your way.

By the way, were you caught up in that big Water Main break out your way recently?

I felt the same way about my Kersenbrock... still kicking myself for selling it.

Nah...but the neighborhoods around me got hit pretty hard. It was pretty bad.

I've had MANY cues over the years...but only a couple that I sincerely regret getting rid of.

A particular Scruggs comes to mind. He, in my opinion, makes the best steel jointed cue....EVER. Tim and Mike really put together some serious magic when it comes to a player.

This BB cue, though, has that extra something special. Especially since it got so much attention, had writeups on it, involved a SERIOUS hike to pick up, and Tony's hard work to make it the ultimate 6-point Black Boar (for me). With respect to pool...it just doesn't get any more sentimental than that (except for those that have their dad's/grandpa's cue, of course).

That's why I kept the pics and articles and whatnot...because the cue meant/means that much to me.
 
Hi Mark,
I was amazed when you had to sell that cue:eek: , after playing with it- I still believe it was one of the better playing BB cues that I've used. I too would love to know where it went- I'd love to have it!:wink:

Thanks much, Craig. I thought you might have snagged it...but then again, it would have gotten lost in your collection!!! ;)

Tom....I might have to call out the big guns on this one, and put out a B.O.L.O order.

I do not know what a B.O.LO. is, but I am sure a missing person report will work. You never know, the AZ community are the best in the business and will probably have a lead or two.

mark, i remember when you left my house in massachusetts and left to go drop off your partner in washington and then immediately drive to wv to pick up this cue. you were so excited and then when you had to let it go i felt bad. i think we all have that "special" cue that got away.

Good memory, Guy!!

Yep...that was a total of 18 hours on the road, after 2 days at work (and at your place) with no sleep anywhere in there.

It was well worth it, though...that cue turned out to be a monster!!

Keep your chin up ! Another Boar will come your way someday.
I've read all of your posts about that cue and as a BB owner myself
I feel your pain. I would sell the rest of my humble collection before
my Boar.
You know Tony quite well, why don't you ask him to make you a basic
eight pointer like mine ;)

Believe me...I've thought about it. Truth be told, though...I kinda like my kids, and wouldn't REALLY want to sell one on the black market to afford it. Granted, I'd still have the other two babies....but still.

Tony makes a phenomenal cue, to be sure. I have yet to own one that I didn't absolutely love (6 of them, all said and done). Those were easier times, and money wasn't so tight then. A new one, while no doubt being incredible, is so far out of reach, I can't even fathom the thought.

Thanks much, sir. I will continue to remember the good ol' days, and just hope that my ebony/tulipwood 6-pointer is in good hands, and in a safe, secure, loving home.
