I can see where some would want to break the monotany if some feel the need to be silly. A beginners thread section sounds like a good idea. And some people don't like the silliness which is quite understandable, they only want seriousness.
In their defense (which I may not be qualified to make since I don't post much), Poolguppy and CreeDo had me rolling on another thread, and these are exactly the type of folks I would be around at the poolhall enjoying some 9 or 14.1. In a weird way I think sometimes the types of threads people start or comment on can implicitly allow others tosee "who is out there" in the billiards community. I enjoy AZB as much as the next fellow, and diversity makes it happen.
Back to the topic, I do read MANY of the threads to keep informed or see what questions others may have no matter how "dumb" or "beginneresque" they may seem, because billiards is a passion. And most A level players aren't asking questions anyways so I would assume we (we being shortstops and under as a majority) are here to help each other and receive advice from the skilled when we have a legit question, which is easy to spot. Threads on here are like The National Enquirer (sp?) Vs a peer reviewed journal and are usually easy to spot anyways.
